This problem started a few days ago. I can set my Centro's ringtone to anything in the list, and it saves the setting, but no matter what I choose, the ringtone I get when a call comes in is the Alarm ringtone. If I return to Sound Preferences it still has my chosen ringtone settings - the settings are apparently just being ignored. At first it played some other ringtone (which I've forgotten), and I deleted that ringtone to try to solve the problem, but then it just picked Alarm. I could delete Alarm too, but it will most likely just pick another ringtone to get stuck on. Removing the battery didn't fix the problem. Thanks for any help.

Just a quick update to say that my Centro seems to be picking whatever ringtone is alphabetically first. I changed the name of a ringtone by prepending "aa" to the name, and now the Centro is using that ringtone.

Hello carrion and welcome to the forums;
When is the last time you hotsynced your device? The reason I ask is that I would suggest a Hard Reset as the first step in troubleshooting this issue.
After hotsyncing to back up all of your PIM data, follow the directions for a Hard Reset here:
http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/centro/centro/
After the Hard Reset, try to set ringtones before hotsyncing and restoring information to your device. If the problem is resolved, hotsync and restore your device, then try one last time. If after restoring your data you have this probem again, then likely there is a problem with a program you have installed on your device.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for the good suggestion TreoAide. After doing a hard reset the ringtone settings worked again, and after doing a hotsync they stopped again. I'm pretty sure it's one of those junky little games my kids like to play (not the good one's I like to play!). I'll start deleting things I don't need/want and see if the ringtone settings start working again without resorting to another hard reset.

@carrion:
Glad to hear it's not hardware, now the testing phase begins. ![]()
