So I decided to use my headphones with my Pre, but now I can’t make calls without the headphones. All the sounds on the phone, other than the ringer for some reason, are trying to go through the headphone jack rather than the Pre’s speaker. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Just had this issue tonight. The solution that worked for me was to do the headset plug in/out sequence in a voicemail call, but I had to make sure I switched the phone from non-silent to silent between plugging my headset in and out.
This has led me to conclude that there's a bug with the silent switch. Hope this issue gets resolved.

Thanks for saving my sanity and/or a dreaded call to Sprint customer service. As a newbie, let me throw out a Bluetooth question. My old Samsung would sync with my vehicle to operate hands-free but would still work in normal handset mode when I left the vehicle (i.e. did not need to have a Bluetooth headset). The Palm Pre seems to be either all-Bluetooth all the time, or no Bluetooth. I found myself having to select an audio option (Normal or Speaker) when I tried to answer calls away from the vehicle. Even more aggravating, when I got back into the vehicle the connection would sometimes be lost and I would have to turn off/turn on Bluetooth again if I wanted to go hands-free.
Am I doing something wrong? I'm up to WebOS 1.1. Thanks.

I've tried almost all the solutions that has been posted concerning this issue. The only thing that worked for me was calling my voicemail with the headset plugged in, then immediately turning the speaker phone on. After it connect I unplugged the headset and turn speaker off. I got this from another posting so to their credit.
Thanks!!!
Hope this works for you and hopefully it will last for me

Took can of compressed air, inserted the tube into the speaker phone jack and shot air into it for about 5 seconds.
It's working again.

I've had this Pre for a little over 4 months and this started happening two months ago.
Whenever a call comes in or goes out, the device seems to think that headphones are plugged in as I can select only "speakerphone" or "headset" when calling or receiving calls. At first, the plugging and unplugging headphones worked, but now that doesn't work either. Very frustrating!
Also, the "just call your voicemail and plug/unplug" option CANNOT work because everytime you do this, the call drops.
Palm must either be not monitoring this forum or ignoring it because I have not even seen Palm acknowledge this problem, much less address it.
Has anyone called Palm to address this? What was your experience? Did they mention that others have reported this problem as well. If they have knowledge, and choose to ignore it, they are exposing themselves to a class-action lawsuit because this a major problem with the basic functionality of the phone.

i agree with you totally. I bought the Pre, my first day i had problems after the 1.4.1 update. I could not watch sprint tv nor navigate with sprint navigator. In addition, i could not preview my ringtones nor amazon app songs which after the exchanging it for another Pre i could do all these things before the update. Now 2 weeks later this happens with the sound but the advice above did fix the issue. Love the phone but they really need to fix the bugs maybe apple can help them out somewat
