My palm lost its phone sound a few weeks ago. I had to use the head set. Then after all the usual posted attempts, nothing worked, but a couple days later it just started working. Then it randomly quit, started, then the head set quit, and started...back and forth etc. I can't return the phone because the charging outlet cover popped off and cracked the edge of the screen. I took it apart and discovered the screw base inside the phone by the charge outlet was busted and the screw wouldn't come out because the base was loose and attached to the screw. This was my 2nd replacement phone, and I'm sure it came that way, but I'm screwed too because it's physical damage. Anyways, after putting the phone back together, I can get no sound in the phone speaker or the head set, and music won't play on the speaker phone. Am I lucky to be able to make phone calls using the speaker phone (only thing that works)? You decide. I bought a blue tooth so I could have some private conversations. Am I lucky that works too? You decide. I like the phone but it's to fragile. Bye bye Palm!
Let me know if you have any "other" suggestions.

Uh oh. My Verizon Pre2 has also gone half-spaz with the audio. After several Restarts and doing the **bleep** on the jackhole, I now have the music player coming out of the phone's earpiece (not speaker). After a prior Restart the speaker worked as expected until the first time I used headphones, then only non-phone audio was available via the headphone. Strangely, the speakerphone always works as expected.
This is almost certainly a software problem and it is disheartening to see such a fundamental glitch dates back through several major releases.
