I wish I had known of the issue before I "upgraded" to 1.4 crap. I was "excited" to have the calendar work faster (still sucks, but now wait is less then 1 minute) and to have video (how advanced, no other phones have that... oh, wait, I had a phone in 2002 that took videos...). Hopefuly Palm will get off their ass and fix these issues ASAP. I'm glad I kept my Centro for business as the calendar works great, and it pairs with my '06 BMW 330ci.

The new update has messed both of my bluetooth connections up. I have had the same problems as "pipmac". Can call using the phone but drops to the phone's normal mode after about a minute. I called Palm and told them of the problem. They gave me a case number and sent me to the specialist. I got a call back the next day saying that they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution and I will be emailed when the new update comes out. The worst problem I did not sign up for is they charge a "service" fee of $15 for support for every call past 90 days of having the phone. Blackberry doesn't do this. I have had the Pre the fist day it came out in June of 2009. I am thinking about switching.

My Phone was connecting just fine with my car until I ran the new update, 1.4

Carkit Model info (Manufacturer, firmware version, etc): Not sure
Details of problem: Bars used to show when connected, won't show anymore; Won't sync with my contacts; when i get a call it will connect, but a few minutes later it will disconnect so i have to immediately put my phone on speaker to continue to talk. Didn't have this problem with the previous version. I tried deleting it and reconnecting from both all to no avail.

Worked before 1.4. Bluetooth says paired but cannot control phone with buttons in car!!! When I try it says"searching for paired device". Will make and recieve calls if I use it thru the phone itself and not thru the car. Will drop me from bluetooth after about 30 secs. VERY DISSAPOINTED WITH PALM PRODUCTS. HAD 7. YES 7 PALM PRE'S ONLY TO DOWNGRADE TO THE PIXI. NOW I CAN'T CONNECT TO MY CAR. SO MUCH FOR A "SMART PHONE"
webOS version:1.4

Palm
I have been reading all these posts and it is obvious that any BMW owner who updated their Palm Pre to 1.4.0 can no longer use the bluetooth connection in their car.
I assume that this is a big enough deal that your team is working on a fix however it has been quite some time since the update was issued and I have not been able to find any news regarding the time frame for a new update to correct this issue.
Please, post when you anticipate issuing the fix, so the thousands of us can stop spending so much time searching through these messages looking for help.
Thank you

Much like many others:
- Car kit worked fine w/my new VZ Pre Plus (just like my husband's iPhone and my 2 previous Blackberrys) when I first got the phone and before I reached a wireless connection and the phone automatically upgraded to WebOS 1.4
- Since the upgrade to WebOS 1.4, the car kit and phone pair, but I cannot initiate a call via the Bluetooth car kit (have to use the phone's dial pad - UNSAFE), and sometimes (but not always) the incoming calls will not transfer from the Pre Plus phone to the car kit.
- IF I've been fortunate enough to receive a call that transferred from the Pre Plus to the Bluetooth car kit then the carkit will not release the call nor release my stereo speakers once the call is complete.
- Like others, I've deleted the car kit from my Pre's list of bluetooth devices as well as removed the phone from the carkit list. I've then re-paired the phone. Done all this twice, and still having the same problems.
This is a significant SAFETY issue Palm is facing as well as one that causes drivers who purchased your phones to be limited in their use in areas where handsfree driving is required BY LAW. Please verify to this forum that this is a high priority fix that will not have to wait for the next "regular semi-annual update", as may happen as described by your telephone help desk this evening.
webOS version: 1.4
Included in compatibility list: YES!
I have another 3 weeks to evaluate this phone before getting out of my trial period with Verizon. I love everything else about this phone, but the safety of using bluetooth in my car is a deal-killer if it can't be fixed. Does Palm really want former Blackberry and iPhone users to return to those devices/carriers?!
Thanks for addressing this issue not only for BMW OEM bluetooth users, but also all of us aftermarket Motorola Bluetooth carkit users as well.
