Connect 2 Palm TX's via Bluetooth

My wife and I each have Palm TX's.  It would be nice to be able to connect the two to each other via bluetooth to exchange information, but I am unable to figure out how.  One TX will not see the other in the setup modes, even though it is in discover mode.   I was able to see and connect our BT phones, but not between TX's.
Suggestions?
Thanks...Len

Click on the following link to the kb.palm.com webpage for the user guide. On page 287 is the section regarding Bluetooth. On page 461 is the section regarding bluetooth sending of information.

Re: Connect 2 Palm TX's via Bluetooth

I understand about how to set up basic pairing and sending data, as I've done this with our mobile phones. The problem is when I put one TX in discover mode, the other TX does not see it in any of the setup modes... Phone, PC, or Network. How can I 'find' the discoverable TX, or is there another way to accomplish pairing?

Re: Connect 2 Palm TX's via Bluetooth

The pairing of the 2 handhelds should work with the instructions in the previous post.

Try a soft reset of both handhelds and then try again.

There is really no other method to pair the devices that I am aware of.

Are you sync'ing the device to the same username in Palm Desktop as an older device?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device.

Re: Connect 2 Palm TX's via Bluetooth

I'm assuming you're trying to make the two a "Trusted Pair", correct?  Bluetooth icon, Setup Devices button, Trusted Devices, Add Device.

When device #1 is looking for device #2, change the search criteria at the top of the page to "Nearby Devices".

Thanks to both of you for your responses. Wyrenut, you provided the specific solution that worked. I was not aware that the trusted devices link provided the 'add device' link for all bt devices, and this worked just great.  Guess I need to read the fine print of the manuals a little better.
Regards.

Re: Connect 2 Palm TX's via Bluetooth

When trying to connect 2 Palm Tx as trusted devices with 'nearby devices', I'm asked for 'Passkey' to devices. I don't remember entering one. I'm therefore unable to add 2nd, newer Palm Tx to trusted devices.

I'm trying to sync both Palm Tx's and my pc so the same info appears on all three.

Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

Re: Connect 2 Palm TX's via Bluetooth

The passkey is anything you want, usually four digits.

I stick with four zeros (0000) since this is a standard for many devices that don't have a keyboard.  Just enter that string into both devices when asked!
