Bluetooth & WiFi

Hi,

I'm trying to pair my SX Blue II GPS receiver with my Centro phone. We have some apps we've built and that work with a simple Garmin GPS receiver. The SX Blue has DGPS so should give us better locations. 

The problem is in trying to pair the Centro to the GPS. According to the manufacturer, the GPS does not need nor want a passkey. However, when I try to pair the Centro, it asks for a passkey. There doesn't appear to be any option for no passkey, like on a Windows device. I've tried the standard keys: 0000, 1234, (4 spaces), but they don't work.

The manufacturer is not familiar with Palm so they're not much help. They're  asking me to turn off security with the connection.

My phone has Palm Bluetooth manager v3.3A on it.

Any help would really be appreciated.

It will ask for the Passkey but you do not have to put anything in it. Try just clicking the ok, next or done on that screen and see what happens.

thepoeta15, Thanks for replying. I have also tried clicking OK and Cancel. All entries keep hitting the same Could not connect wall.

Just about every BlueTooth GPS I've worked with requires a certain amount of button presses to place it into "pairing mode".  I find it hard to believe this certain model does not behave similarly!

WyreNut, you would think so, but I am able to pair with a Bluetooth notebook computer by setting it to no passkey.

I can pair to a Garmin GPS10, but it doesn't have the differential that we're looking for. 

According to the manual, the device outputs on all 3 ports (Bluetooth, USB, Serial) by default. I take that to mean that it's always looking for a Bluetooth connection.

Also from the manual: The SX Blue II does not support pairing using passkeys. 

Maybe the USB port would work if I use the connection cable???

Unfortunately, PalmOS devices are slave-only USB devices...

Well that's a bummer about the USB. So I guess I'm back to square 1. I need to somehow make the Centro accept no passkey for its Bluetooth connection.

Is there any way to modify the way that the Centro processes Bluetooth pairings?

Do any of you Palm guys know what Bluetooth stack is used in the Centro? Is it the WidComm? Are there any aftermarket stacks available for the Palm Centro?

The folks over at Geneq think that the Bluetooth stack is not compliant with the standard because it's not letting a null passkey work.
