And just when I decided to get on board...

Hi Community,

This is my first post!

I was hoping for more but then...

HP decides to ditch all tablets and PCs and WebOS to go Software only!!! Great timing!

Who's gonna keep us going then?

All the best.

Re: And just when I decided to get on board...

Hi Wovens,  Welcome to the Community.  I too was shocked by HPs recent anouncements (mostly how they did it, not what they did... I figured that they would have licensed Web OS to a hardware manufacturer first before killing their own devices.).

That being said, I can confirm that there are still HP Devs checking into these forums as well as other members and the community is really great.  HP has openly confirmed that WebOS is not dead (as hard to believe as that is) and for myself, I still love the phones and will continue to use the devices that I have for as long as they will work as I have found nothing comparable on the market to date (contact management, calendar synergy and multitasking are far more important to me than useless apps... I have a solid 10 apps I run all the time and they allow me to be extremely productive).

Sorry about the timing of your decision to buy in to the Web OS platform but these forums will continue to be an important source of information and communication.  I also recommend following WebOSRoundup.com as well as Precentral.net  These two sites provide tips and tricks for maximizing the use of our devices as well as providing the latest news (like Touchpad Fire sale prices).

My mouning time is almost over and I am living in the moment.  I will continue with WebOS if it survives and will only look to changing if no amount paperclips and duct tape will hold my phone together any more and no new devices have been released.

Re: And just when I decided to get on board...

I am trying my best to understand the whole new approach hp is taking and how it affects me.  I bought the webos tablet about a week before they dropped the price and announced they won't make them anymore. Sooooooo, I am guessing that I will be left with an expensive relic that will no longer be supported with new apps?  I shunned the IPAD in favor of the webOS and now find I should have taken the plunge with the other? *frown*

Where did you purchase it? HP encouraged most retailers to refund the difference... HP has stated they will continue to support the device for at least a year, and have not ended webOS software development. It's always possible another company will purchase the rights to the software from HP, and could make some excellent hardware! WyreNut
