Palm Tee Shirts

So, on the Palm Facebook, they keep posting pictures of these summer tour stops and they're giving out Palm tee shirts. Would they by chance sell those somewhere? I mean, it'd be great advertising for them, and they're pretty cool shirts.

Re: Palm Tee Shirts

I agree, but with the recent merger with HP, the logo may be changing!?

(But yes, it would be cool to get one while they last!)

Re: Palm Tee Shirts

Some time ago, I also saw the tees you mentioned and I also thought they were pretty cool. I wanted to get one of them, but I learnt about the HP merging and as somebody said the logo may have changed. However, I think those tees can be still gotten if you go to a workshop and have somebody make the design you want. So many times I have seen some cool t-shirts on TV or in the internet and I haven’t been able to get them. What I do in these cases is saving the image and asking a pro to make them for me. I have to say it has worked for me very well. Besides, nowadays so many people do that, because so many designs of cool tees you see are just available for just a short time. So the only way to get them is to have them done.

I don't work for HP-Palm so I personally don't care.  However, doing what you suggest constitutes copyright/trademark infringement, and any "professional" shop that puts a company's logo onto a shirt without authorization, has no professional standards and is breaking the law.

Re: Palm Tee Shirts

Hi folks,

My first post.

I imagine you are right in principle with regard to copyright issues, however, I feel that the companies in question would be delighted with the free advertising. Especially when one considers that it costs $30,000 a minute for TV advertising at peak viewing times.

In this event I would expect them to drive me to the shop, pay for the 'T' shirt to be printed and then pay me $10,000 a month to walk around wearing it.  Ah, well, I can dream.

Tony.

Re: Palm Tee Shirts

I don't disagree with your sentiment.  However, I work for a large company.  They jealously guard their trademarks and logos, and how they are used and presented.  For example, if I had a company name and logo that was extremely valuable, I would not want to see it rendered in low quality, in ways or on items that might be contrary to my ideas of marketing, with someone else making money from it.

If a certain unauthorized use were to become prevalent, and the company didn't do anything to try to stop it, then it is conceivable that the company (the owner of the logo) could be deemed to have abandonded or waived its rights.
