Is there a reliable way to fix the indexer problem which results in none of my music being found? Not much point having 32Gb of storage if it won't even see my 8Gb of on-board music ![]()
I have Preware installed and have tried deleteing the index file and rebuilding it; I see it rebuild but the "Music" app stubbornly says "There is no music on your Touchpad". If only the facility existed, to tell the Music App where my music was... :-(
p.s. my music is arranged in folders by artist and album.
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

You don't need to "tell" it where your music files are, if the files are in a compatible format the music app should be able to find them wherever they are. But since your post does not say, I'll ask you to confirm that your music files are in a format compatible with the TouchPad.

Also, if your music is behind folders that start with a "." they will not be found.
.Music
.Anthrax
.Bee Gees
.Madonna
.Vixen
Remove the stop "." symbol should allow the music player to find the music while in turn Photos and Vidoes will be missively proliferated with album covers.
Also, as other suggested, what types of music files are you trying to listen to?
Supported formats are:
• Audio formats: DRM-free MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR, QCELP, WAV
• Video formats: MPEG-4, H.263, H.264

Sorry - all information I should have given you from the start...
All the music is in TouchPad compatible formats, and the folder is called "Music" and is located in the DCIM folder in the USB area. I knew these things before I even copied the stuff over.
There is a widely documented bug in the Indexer which causes this; I thought someone here would be able to help.

p.s. I was bemoaning the "tell it where it is" feature being missing, because the automated approach doesn't seem to be working.
Stuff like this "Should just work".

Curious. Just for the heck of it, have you tried moving the music files out of the "Digital Camera IMages" folder up to the same root as DCIM?
Try a new folder there. I'm not seeing a problem with all the music I've installed.

Yes. I've even tried it in the root of /media/internal/ and in various other places; and each time left it in the same folder for a couple of days to let the index rebuild. I have also left it in various places and deleted the "filenotify.db3" file (which is the indexer's output) and let it rebuild.
As I said; it's a well documented Indexer fault that even PreCentral.net have struggled to consistently work around when it occurs.
