I don't have a lot of time to spend searching to see if others have made the same recommendations so, in advance, I apologize. I like the TouchPad but there are some things that should be changed and/or added with the webOS software that is included with the TouchPad:

I don't have a lot of time to spend searching to see if others have made the same recommendations so, in advance, I apologize. I like the TouchPad but there are some things that should be changed and/or added with the webOS software that is included with the TouchPad:
- The email program should have a feature that allows the default program to be changed when opening attachments. For example, the default program for opening Microsoft Office documents is QuickBooks; however, I don't use QuickBooks. I use Picsel Smart Office. Thus, when I click on a MS Office attachment I'd like it to open using Picsel Smart Office. One option would be to activate a popup (similar to Windows) that asks what program should be associated with this type of file.
- The email program should allow for the creation of folders. It uses existing folders for Gmail but if I use POP or Exchange (I use all three), I'm stuck with the default folders and that is not acceptable.
- The email program is the first I've encountered where you can't select multiple emails for some action like delete.
- I have not seen a means of setting up rules in the email program. Thus, while emails get automatically deleted (junk) or placed in specific folders on my various emails accounts, I'm stuck with them all in webOS' email program. This takes a lot of time that I shouldn't have to spend.
- The Calendar program should have the ability to determine the default view whenever opening Calendar. For example, I like to see my view by the week, not the day and in the preferences, there is no way to change this. Nor does the help indicate a means to change this except manually everytime Calendar is opened.
- There should be a means to add folders to the tabbed panels and then place applications in those folders. For example, I have several math programs in 'Favorites'. Placing these in a 'Math' folder in 'Favorites' would better organize my applications. This is possible in Android and should be possible in webOS.

Good suggestions. A couple of comments....
The email program DOES have a way to select multiple messages but I'd agree its not clear. Tap the little icon that looks like a folder at the bottom of the message list to activate it.
I'm not sure, but there might be patches via Preware for the calendar default view...
Don't forget, a lot of basic questions are answered in your User Guide.
