Touchpad Calendar Limitations

The TP calendar only displays Google calendar events for two months forward, whereas my Palm Pre Plus calendar displays events for an indefinite period in the future.  For example, if  I want to check my calendar for available time slots in April 2012 I have to check it on my Pre.  This is very inconvenient and defeats the purpose of having a calendar.

This issue was posted in July in another thread but appears to have been closed out by Tech Support (unable to post a reply to original post).  In this thread Tech Support stated that the issue was due to Google Calendar limitations.  I'm sorry, but I do not believe this is the answer - as evidenced by what I said above about my Pre Calendar.

Please investigate this issue further as it is important to me that I can view calendar events 6, 12, 24 months in the future.

Re: Touchpad Calendar Limitations

Not sure what you're referring to.  I just turned on my laptop PC, set an event for 8/8/2012, then synced my TouchPad.

The event showed in seconds.

Re: Touchpad Calendar Limitations

I am referring to the fact that an event I scheduled on Google Calendar for April 23,2012 appears on my Pre calendar but does not appear on my TP calendar.  As I said, the TP calendar only shows events I create for two months in the future.

Re: Touchpad Calendar Limitations

Refer to thread "Google Calendar Touchpad sync" started on 7/7/2011 and replied to by Tech Support "Terabyte."  The thread subsequently died.

Re: Touchpad Calendar Limitations

Update:  I just went in and modified/edited/re-saved my Google Calendar events that are scheduled for more than two months in the future, performed a TP calendar re-sync, and the future events now show up on TP calendar.

Re: Touchpad Calendar Limitations

I believe this has to do with the state of the calendar during the initial import. Events that are already in your calendar when you first add the account to TouchPad will only show up if they are 1 month prior and 2 months ahead. After the initial import, any new appointment will show up.

This is something that has been duplicated a lot (and commented on a lot as well) and it has definitely been reported to HP.

Re: Touchpad Calendar Limitations

If it's been widely reported, and HP is aware of it, why haven't they officially responded as to WHEN it will be fixed?

In the meantime, at least for me, a workaround has been to open my Google Calendar in the browser, and add it to the Launcher as the 5th App.  Hopefully this issue will be rectified once, and for all, with the next update.

Re: Touchpad Calendar Limitations

Unfortunately this proved to be a deal breaker for me, and I've sent my Touchpad back. For a system advertised as a tool for business, the calendar capabilities are better suited for an elementary school student. Even worse, it wasn't until my second conversation with a Level II support person that they noted this was a limitation of the system with no work-around. Nor did they make any mention of resolving it in near future -- even after I noted I was sending it back. Frankly, I'm disappointed in HP and WebOS that they have not worked out the bugs yet. I purposely waited until the 3.0.2 upgrade, but my tablet wouldn't take the upgrade either. Too much time setting it up and debugging and then this limited capability. Enough already!
