hiya folks
we were burgled 3am wednesday morning
the b*stards smashed a hole in the back door big enough to get a hand through and unlocked it. the thieving ****s ransacked the kitchen and went into the downstairs hall where they got my wifes handbag and my daughters college bag they stole money, my daughters touchpad, nintendo ds , a mountain bike from the shed and probably more but luckily the dog barked and the must have run off first we knew was coming downstairs at 6am to find back door wide to the wall.
what I'd like to know is
can we remotely wipe her touchpad ?
can hp track the stolen touchpad?
or can HP brick the stolen touchpad for us,( I hate the thought of the theiving **bleep**s having her stuff).
cheers folks

Hi, and welcome to the HPalm Support Community.
Very sorry to hear of your loss. You can do a remote wipe of the TouchPad with the link found in this thread.

As far as tracking goes, I don't think so. You may wish to contact HP Support for definitive answers on that, though.

hi again
and thanks for the advice
I've phoned hp web butler service this morning
wasn't much help to be honest
I know that up to now no one has tried to register the stolen touchpad
what I would like to know is
If I remotely wipe the stolen touchpad, is that all ties severed to it or will it remain registered to me.
I really hate the idea of someone being able to register and update something that we had to save up to buy.
also is it possible for hp to let me know if someone tries to register it?

My Touchpad was stolen today and i tried wiping it remotely but got the following error msg:
Failed to erase device
Any ideas? Does the device have to be online to be wiped?
Thanks in Advance!

Hi,
My touchpad was stolen from a hotel some time ago.
I got the same error message as you: Failed to erase device
I tried a ccouple of days later and it was successful. Don't know if the device has got to be ON and connected to internet for wipe to be successful. It's the only thing I can think of that would prevent wipe.
