frozen HP touchpad

My touchpad was slow. I made a restart by using the power button and shut down button. When pressing the powerbutton again it did not stop with the HP sign but with a big USB sign on a blck screen. Now nothing works on the touchpad. I connected it with my computer but it claimed a driver which could not be found and it will not show the usb hub so I cannot reject it. The touchpad is just a step from beeing thrown into the garbagecan after only 1 week in use.

HELP.

Re: frozen HP touchpad

Try this: press and hold both the power button and the center button.  After 10-15 seconds the TouchPad will force a reboot.

Before throwing it in the garbage, contact me for my address.  I will PayPal you a fair sum and you can mail it to me.  :smileyhappy:

Re: frozen HP touchpad

Thanks for the advice. I will try that next time. I have solved the problem using webOs doctor as I imagined that a big usb -sign ment that it wanted a contact with a computer. It took some time but I finally got a new webOS on my touchpad and it is now working again. Not that I am impressed. Most of the time I am looking on a spinning wheel and a message saying: could not be, done try again. I have 10 MB connexion and my 2 other computers works well  on that. Just tried a you-tube video. On the touchpad I heard 30 secs song of Anna Netrebko then it stopped and began spinning in the film. On my small Acer netbook I saw and heard the full video. And the pReader has stopped to work on 2. November and I can see that others has reported the same thing. I am not sure that a HP Touchpad is a good solution here in Denmark. Perhaps it is the distance between Denmark and US that is the problem:smileyhappy:

What are your flash settings?  Go to https://settings.adobe.com/flashplayer/mobile/ and tap on Local Storage.  There are 3 choices--Always, Only from sites I visit, and Never.  Make sure that Never is not selected.  Either of the other choices should work.

Also, I'm not sure if this makes a difference on YouTube but I know it does on Crackle--open the browser, tap on web then preferences and make sure Block Popups is off.

As far as pReader, I think we will be waiting until they do the next update.  According to the developer, 3.0.4 created a problem with it and he may not be able to address it.

Hope that helps at least with YouTube.

Re: frozen HP touchpad

Thanks for the advice, elsie2. I still have 30-45 sec. sound on youtube. My adobe setting is Always but I can not find Block Popups in Settings - Device Info.

I miss the pReader very much, hope that the solution will come soon.

Sorry for the wrong path for Block Popups!  I think I had just been to device info so it stuck in my mind.

Open your browser, tap on web in the upper left of the screen, tap on preferences and now you should see Block Popups.  If it says On, just tap there and it will change to off.

I needed both the appropriate flash setting and this setting.  I'm guessing if YouTube does need Block Popups set to off, that anyone running an ad blocker patch of any type might also have a problem...

(Do you have the Kindle app?  If so, you can side load books there using Kindle Import...)

Re: frozen HP touchpad

Thanks for the advice. But it still not working.  I think that I have a local WI-FI-problem here, maybe the router or inteferens from a very big antennamast 30 meters from my house.

A lot of wireless communication is passing through that and interfer with my telly.

Regarding the pReader: The dev Jappus have made a way round the bug in a new version of Preader native. I have downloaded it from Precentral but apparently it is not installed. When trying to open the downloaded file I get the message - can not read MIME-files.  What am I doing wrong?

Re: frozen HP touchpad

I think preader native that you downloaded has the same problem in 3.0.4 as the original preader.  You should check out the forums at precentral before you load it.  Having said that, if you are going to load it, the easiest way is through Preware (webOS has trouble with some downloads so that may be why you are getting the MIME error).
