hotmail signing error on touchpad

I can no longer access my hotmail (neither can anyone else) on my touchpad through the browser. I've tried access with https, clearing cache etc...might work one out of ten times. I do have it set up via the mail app, but some messages get a download error and so I try through the browser.

windows live Id is unavailable from this site

frustrated...going in circles

Re: hotmail signing error on touchpad

Did you set up your Live.com account as a POP or Exchange type of account?

If you set it up as a POP account this would be a problem. You need to set up your Live account as an exchange account after removing the POP account using the following steps:

From Device Info locate Accounts. Choose Add an Account, use the following settings.

Account Type: Exchange

Server: m.hotmail.com

Account Name: <your full email address>

Password: <your account password>

The you can choose the items that you want to sync.

  • Email
  • Calendar
  • GAL (address lookup)
  • Contacts

Re: hotmail signing error on touchpad

I just want to be able to use my hotmail or any hotmail through the browser. It works via the mail app without a problem.

Re: hotmail signing error on touchpad

I have tested accessing hotmail through the browser and it appears to no longer be possible. I can still access my calendars and docs, but when you tap on Hotmail it take you to a page to set up hotmail. I don't know if this is a temporary problem with the hotmail site

Re: hotmail signing error on touchpad

sometimes I can get in via https, logging out is another problem. Quite a few people have troubles logging in but there doesn't seem to be a solution. Temporary? Am now at close to three weeks without proper access.

Re: hotmail signing error on touchpad

You may want contact Microsoft on this matter to see what is causing this web based issue. Why don't you just set this up as an exchange account as I suggested earlier to solve this problem?

Re: hotmail signing error on touchpad

I have done so but sometimes there are errors opening emails. Also if someone would like to check their hotmail....so would like to have the option of using the web-based mail. Will contact MS and see if anything can be done. From what I gather they will just blame webOS and/or the lack of silverlight.  Thanks.

Re: hotmail signing error on touchpad

I have an Exchange (shows only text versions of email) and Hotmail account (same account but shows email correctly) defined on my Touchpad. The Hotmail account stopped updating for no reason. I deleted the Hotmail account and re-defined it (the same way). Now, it works fine...

Re: hotmail signing error on touchpad

No HTML email on the Touchpad if using EAS with Hotmail. This is the only device I am aware of with this limitation. Hard to understand the reason for this whether there is some technical reason or if it is simply indifference on the part of the WebOS devs.

There is a workaround:

1. Set up EAS for your Hotmail account as normal. Enable calendar and contacts syncing, but *disable* email sync.
2. Set up a separate POP account for your Hotmail email

This will let you view and send email in HTML *and* keep your calendar and contacts in sync. You will be limited by POP to viewing only your Inbox, and Sent Mail will not be synced back to the server, but I find it to be a workable solution.

Given that HP and Microsoft are partners and that Bing is the default mapping service in WebOS you'd think there would be a bit more synergy with Microsoft's services in WebOS, but now that WebOS is open source I suppose we'll never see this happen.
