I have a Pre+ and using my original Palm Profile for backups, etc. When my Touchpad arrives, should I use my original Pre Profile or create a separate HP Profile?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using the same profile for both devices?
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

Hello Nole,
That is an excellent question. You can and should use the same profile for the Pre plus and the touchpad. This will give you the ability to save documents and data to one location for both devices instead of data in one account and data in completely different account. Data can not be combined from two separate accounts.
The Pre 3 (when released) will have the ability to use "touch to share" technology and you will be able to not only save the documents to the same location, but share the documents between the devices wirelessly.

Received my Touchpad yesterday and as you recommended I used my existing Palm Pre Profile. Everything seems to be working as advertised. Thanks for the info.

Are contacts between a webOS phone and the TouchPad supposed to sync? Because they aren't syncing between my Pre2 and my Touchpad. I can login to the website to manage my profiles and I see them both. My phone says "Palm Profile" and my TouchPad says "HP webOS Account". When I enter a new contact on, e.g., my phone, it doesn't show up on my TP - and vice versa. Now, of course, if I use my Exchange Account accessed by both the Phone and TP, everything's syncs. Is this a bug or a feature?

Hello Kayphoonstar,
The touchpad and the pre do NOT sync PIM data together. for example, if you save a contact on the Touchpad and the default account is set up in preferences as HP WebOS Account. You will not be able to see the contact on the Pre. and Vice Versa.
If you would like to share calendar entries, contacts with both devices, I suggest using Exchange (as you stated) or gmail. Set these accounts as the default account in each application. Therefore, when data is entered, it saves to gmail/Exchange and is synced to your devices.
This is a feature and by design. Heaven forbid a full erase happen on your device and the next thing you know, its synced to all your other devices and erased the data on those also... Uh ho!

I have the Palm Pre2 and the HP Touchpad. I set up the touchpad first, created the webOS account using yahoo mail address. When I received my Palm Pre2, I created the palm profile using the same email address.
The first connect of the two, a few apps that I installed on my touchpad synced onto my palm. Now, I cannot get this to happen again.
Also, on my Palm Pre 2, the phone came with a palm profile already on it...Dr. Skipped Firstuse...how do I delete this and where did it come from?

You've peaked my interest as I was ready to pull the trigger on a different smart phone (currently have a PRE 2 with Sprint). When is the Pre 3 expected out? And should I wait around?
Pre3 is expected by "end of summer." That's what HP says. And in fact, it looks like Europe is getting the Pre3 launched very, very soon. Within a couple of weeks. Hopefully the US is not far behind, I am dying to get off my original Pre and onto a Pre3.

Unless I am mistaken, the sync of apps between the devices only happens one time: when the device is first brought online and into the webOS Account.
Not sure what you mean by Dr. Skipped Firstuse. Could you give us a screenshot? To take a screenie press at the same time: Orange (may be White on your phone), Sym and P keys.
