My Palm Desktop won't open

It's been working fine until this morning.  Suddenly, the desktop won't open.  I can enter data directly into my Zire31, but the desktop just "loops" and never loads.  I'm using Leopard 10.5.  Is there a fix or do I just need to get a new handheld?  I was going to try my iPhone--but I've got too many contacts to manually enter!  I've downloaded all the different versions of the software, but nothing happens.

Thanks.

Re: My Palm Desktop won't open

Remove the Palm desktop software, reboot the computer and reinstall it. (There's only one version for your device.) If the problem continues then something is interferring. Are you getting any sort of error message?

Re: My Palm Desktop won't open

My Palm Desktop 6.2 is doing the same thing now, and it was just fine two weeks ago.  I switched user names, from one device to another (pda to cell phone), and the program won't open at all now.  I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, with no success.

Re: My Palm Desktop won't open

p.s.  I have restarted the computer after uninstalling the program, and then reinstalling it after it reboots.

Re: My Palm Desktop won't open

I did have an error message from the Palm Installshield Wizard :

"We have found some applications in your backup folder that may not be compatible with Palm OS5.  To avoid problems with your upgrade, we have moved these applications to (file name) instead of installing them on your new device.  We recommend that you do not install these software applications on the new device.

However, you may wish to check with your application vendor if they have an updated version of their software that is compatible with Palm OS5."

I don't understand the reason for the message since I haven't had any problems prior to two weeks ago.  I have no installed a new device at all.
