Trying to sync an empty just-acquired used T2 with my Mac whose Palm calendar/addressbook/etc is chock full from my now-inoperative original T2 (dropped it on hardwood)

Can't get the sync to work;  the new Palm keeps coming up empty.   Is there a trick I need to know?

TIA

You say the new T2 is "empty", but have you done a Hard Reset on it?  A truly "empty" PalmOS device will cause Palm Desktop to ask you, "Create a new HotSync account, or Use an Existing one?"

Choose "Existing One", then pick your original HotSync account name.

To perform a Hard Reset: (Palm Knowledgebase article #887)

http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/887_en.html

While pressing and holding the Power button down, tap and release the Reset button in back and continue to hold the Power button down. When the grey Palm logo appears, you can release the Power button.

You should now see the warning page in about 5 languages. Press the UP direction on the 5-way pad to complete the task. Your Palm will reset itself several times as it re-installs the original programs and erases all your previous data.

WyreNut,
Thank you Thank you Thank you. Neither I nor the friend who sold me this baby knew about a hard reset. All we had tried was what I now know is a soft reset, to no avail. Apparently my first TWO T2's, both bought used, had been given the hard reset. I bought the first one from a good friend for a bottle of pretty expensive wine. I had poo-poo'd this lovely lady a few years ago when she bought it. By the time I was finally ready to give one a try, she was off on an iPhone and let this one go. I LOST that first one somehow on a trip, bought another on ebay a month ago, dropped it on our hardwood floor a week ago, and have been moping around since. I just love the thing, and have no plans to ever buy a smartphone!

thanks again,

Meant to express my appreciation for this forum. Once again an internet forum comes through, it has happened for me countless times
