I have a Palm Z22. It won't hotsync. It tries to connect, but then "Problem, the connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again."

Please type your question here in the body of the post, not the title!  :smileywink:

We need more information to help you -

What OS version is on your computer?

What version of Palm Desktop?

Have you tried a Soft Reset yet?

How are you connected to the computer?  Is the HotSync Manager set to this setting?

I have had the same problem, I find that when I get that mesage, if I rt. click on the sync. icon in the taskbar besides the date, and click on exit, then go to all programs, Palm program and click on the sync. icon, it usually solves the problem. Good luck.

Sorry I put my question in the wrong place.  I am using Windows XP.  My Palm is a Z22.  I have re-booted my computer, if that is what you mean by a soft reset.  I have no more answers - don't know about my hot-sync manager.

A Soft Reset is performed on your Z22.  Look for the tiny "Reset" button on the back of the device and press it with the tip of your stylus or a straightened paper clip.

This will reboot your Palm.  Try a HotSync again.

The HotSync Manager is what your computer runs to connect to the Z22.  Do you see the little HotSync icon in the bottom right tool tray?  If not, you can't connect.  Go here:

Start Button/All Programs/Palm/HotSync Manager.  Selecting this should load the HotSync Manager.

I'd help you with the HotSync Manager, but you neglected to answer my question about "Which version of Palm Desktop?"   :smileysad:

OK - Now I have the hot-sync icon on my right-hand system tray!  I am so pleased.  So now what?
