Long time user of palm devices, I was very unhappy to have to abandon the Palm desktop (the best I ever found) for Outlook when I moved to Treo 750v.
My former UN colleagues have just given me a Palm Pre unlocked (I live in Italy and the Pre has not yet been formally introduced).
I would like to go back to the Palm desktop and synchronize only there between my phone and the PC. I do not care abour web sync for personal reasons. There is sone reference in the manual but no real hints.
Is it possible ? any suggestion ? any third party application ?
Tks
Gian Piero

Good thing someone got right back to ya... man I dumped my pre for an HTC Evo. FYI
There have been posts in this fourm that state that palm is not going to update the desktop OS and only 3rd party apps like Echo will allow you to use the palm desktop software http://www.chapura.com/echo.php <-thats the download page. also if you are going to a 64 bit OS you will have to use Bluetooth to hotsync the device

good luck

I fully agree with gianpiero. I'm extremely upset that I cannot sync the Palm Pre 2 with the Palm Desktop, using either USB or Bluetooth. "In the cloud" means expensive data bundle costs in South Africa. I also don't want to have my list of customers I build up during the last 6 years "in the cloud" where it can be hacked. I've been using a PalmOne Treo 650 for over 6 years now, and never had a sync problem. I just cannot understand or accept this omission on the Pre 2. The Treo 650 also reminded me of contact birthdays without me having to load it on the Calendar. The Pre 2 doesn't do this either, even though the birthdays are in the contact lists.
Please HP, give us these facilities again.
