Re: Palm desktop and iPhone

Just in case you miss my post at the end of the thread, if want to migrate their Palm (whatever model) to iPhone, please don't fall for buying expensive softwre that claims to do that! or use the horribly bloated Outlook. There is a VERY simple way to transfer all your data correctly, painlessly and in just a few minutes:

In Palm desktop export a vCard to your desktop (name it something like Palm2iPhone)

Import that vCard into your AddressBook (PC or Mac)

In iTunes (since you are talking about iPhone I assume you have iTunes!)plug in your iPhone and go to your device (the iPhone) and look for the info tab. In Contacts sync Address Book Contacts, THAT'S IT!

Enjoy

Re: Palm desktop and iPhone

In my Palm Desktop "Export vCal" is not an option - it is listed but grayed out and not selectable.  I can't figure out why.  I can export vCard for contacts, just not vCal in Datebook.  Any ideas on what, if anything, I can do to allow exporting vCal?

Thanks

Re: Palm desktop and iPhone

[ Edited ]
I have not yet purchased the iPhone, as I have been trying to ascertain whether or not it will work to transfer data from my Palm TX.

Sunithaya's post was really helpful. So, I got my Palm contacts into my address book utilizing the vCard. Any ideas about grabbing the Date Book, Memos and To Do's, to transfer them to the iPhone? I was able to create a vCard for my Palm calendar and addresses, but the Memos and To Do's are greyed out for saving to a vCard. Ideas?

Once I get the iPhone, I won't use the Palm anymore.

I do not have Outlook on my MacBook Pro, just Outlook Light ... and that is my work account, which I do not want to use for personal data.

Re: Palm desktop and iPhone

I currently have a centro.  Want to finally change to an iphone but still can't find a solution to

1. moving memos to the iphone

2. still having viewable access to the memos (or notes) on my imac.

There doesn't seem to be an equivalent mac program to Palmdesktop where you can view all your organizer parts in one program.

I have almost a thousand memos.  I would hate to have to redo them.

Also, is there a synchable app for the iphone that would allow me to enter notes on the iphone and view them on the mac?

Would prefer to do all this offline if possible since I don't always have internet access.

Re: Palm desktop datebook data to iPhone

I exported from my Palm z22 using the vCard to my desktop and imported that data into my address book.  I am now trying to do the same thing with my datebook entries.  Can't seem to select all of my entries, only lets me do one at a time.  I'd like to do my datebook data from at least 2-3 years back.  Can I do this?

Re: Palm desktop and iPhone

How did you create the vCard for your datebook?  I can do one entry at a time but would like the whole calendar from 2-3 years back.

Re: Palm desktop and iPhone

Will this work ok if I already have contacts on the new i Phone from a previous phone. In other words, will the two combine?
