Re: Maximum "Tested" Expansion Card Sizes for Palm Devices - Post Your Own Results Here

I have a Palm Treo 700WX and I have been using 4GB Transcend SDHC cards running in mine. have had no problems with it reading or writing to it. I formatted the SD cards with a Panasonic SD/MicroSD Reader/Writer (BN-SDUSB#U) and I use the SD formatter program that works with it. I have tried SAN DISK 8GB, 16GB and 32 GB cards, so far they are formatted and recognized only by the computer.

Re: Maximum "Tested" Expansion Card Sizes for Palm Devices - Post Your Own Results Here

Tried to use the Transcend 4 GB card in a Palm TX after installing the PalmPowerUps PowerSDHC driver.  The Palm TX would not recognize the card, so.....for some reason that now escapes me I formatted the card in my wife's camera, a Canon SD800. The Palm then recognized the card without any problem.  I did discover that my laptop, a Gateway NX860XL, could not recognize the SDHC card formatted or unformatted.  The Transcend SDHC card reader for about $7 including shipping solved the laptop compatability issue. At this point

I suspect that I could format the cards using the laptop and the reader but I haven't tried that. Also the card response speed is addressed in the PalpPowerUps site under the PowerSDHC listing. Apparently the performance can be improved considerably by altering the card formatting parameters using a PC and a cluster size of 32K. Hope this helps someone.

Here is a list of memory cards I have used on my TX:

"Old standard" SD cards:

- Kingston 1 and 2 GB

- Sandisk 1 GB

- Transcend 2 GB and 4 GB (150x)

SDHC cards (with Palmpowerups' PowerSDHC):

- Dane-Elec 4 GB

- Kingston 8 and 16 GB

- Transcend 16 GB

I have had no problems whatsoever using any of these cards.

Well, sometimes, after soft reset, PowerSDHC doesn't start automatically, needs to "kick on" manually.

NOTE! In this forum there are stories of different outcome, though.
