Palm TX Addresses

I just synced my PalmTX and all my contacts are not in any alphabetical order.  I looked at the preferences and it lists Last, First. However, the contacts are NOT in that order.  Example they are listed as:
Mom

Dr. W

Sally

Dot

Wally

ANY ideas on how to fix??

Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Verizon)

Re: Palm TX Addresses

Try a soft reset by pressing the reset button on the back of the handheld. If that does not work, make sure the contacts are in alphabetical order on the PC, change the hotsync conduits to desktop overwrites handheld and then sync. See if this will put the data in the correct order on the handheld.

For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.
http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/tungsten/tx/unlocked/home/page_en.html

There are links on the page to the user guide, troubleshooting, how to's, downloads, etc.

Re: Palm TX Addresses

Thanks!! The soft reset worked!  I'm not sure what happened, but it also 'froze' on me.  I sure hope it's not going, I was smart enough to get a Sqaure Trade warranty though in case!  :smileyhappy:

Have a SUPER day!!!

Re: Palm TX Addresses

Glad to hear that worked for you.

As an FYI, you may want to export your data from Palm desktop in case you lose all your data in Palm desktop and the handheld. I have seen many people that do not backup for disaster recovery.

Here is a procedure for backups.

The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.

Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.

http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734

Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.

With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.

Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.

With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.

Re: Palm TX Addresses

I think I'm a little confused.  I use my Outlook to transfer back and forth.  I don't use the Palm Desktop application.  So, everything is always in my Outlook, correct?

Re: Palm TX Addresses

Ok. I didn't see where you stated you were sync'ing with Outlook. Your post subject indicated you had a TX and the "post relates to" indicator shows a Treo 700WX  so I assumed you were sync'ing with Palm desktop with the TX.

If you are using Outlook then disregard my export suggestion for Palm desktop. You can export a .pst (personal store) file in Outlook for backup.

Re: Palm TX Addresses

Oh, sorry.  I didn't know it still showed the Treo.  I had to give up my Treo because Verizon insisted I pay for internet access even though I didn't want it.
Is there someplace that I should delete or change that link?

Thanks again!  You DID help!

Re: Palm TX Addresses

You can go to your profile in the forums and change the device listed to the TX.

Click on "My Profile" at the top of the page in the forums to change the device listed.
