I think you mean "digitizer", the interactive film used to enter information. Theoretically there are no problems. I am on my second in two years. Obviously the new (and otherwise wonderful) Palm digitizer is not all that robust.
I have lookat at others and keep coming back to Palm, which may be my stupidity. My next plan, however, is to go get a glass digitizer. From what I hear, they are more robust, if more fragile.
As for stopping entirely, that rarely happens all at once..usually it begins with a dead spot or two and expands, so you may be in luck. There are a few posts strewn about the net suggesting that unplugging and replacing the digitizer will fix problems. You might want to try it. Otherwise, you may also have screen issues (if you get nothing.)

I am not a Palm expert but when my digitizer was having severe problems someone on a forum recommended trying PowerDiGi by Dimitri at powerups.com. It has varying levels of touches to the screen. I did the hardest. I believe the thought behind it is the more touches you do the more accurate the calibration is. I'm not sure it works on every model of Palm but check it out.
There is a trial version-use it & if it works BUY it. It is worth every penny & then some. I can't remember if I found the info on it on this forum or Brighthand. But if you can't find it on powerups.com you can Google it.
It is awesome It made mine so accurate I was shocked at the difference. Good luck.

Hi maryd
Yes, it really works great. You know when you write something in notepad & you want to add to a letter say a Y & you want to add the loop on the bottom....when my digitizer was all messed up I could not get the new stroke to attach to the original letter. After using PowerDiGi it attaches perfectly.
I'm sorry about the mistake in the address. I realized it later after I had sent the reply but forgot to write again & correct it. Thanks for doing that. I wouldn't want someone to have a messed up digitizer & then be frustrated because I had given them the wrong address. It is really amazing. Dimitri is so smart. He has written a lot of great programs. Good Luck.

Gee,
Only 9 pages of problems with palm and their support of their own miserable failures.
I've been an avid supporter of Palm for over a decade; have owned at LEAST 5 palm devices...after a Life Drive that's dead in the water, and now a T/X that has the digitizer calibration loop, I even considered a Windows CE device - ANYTHING would be better than a Palm!
I've switched to iPOD touch, and will NEVER look back.
When are you going to get a clue, Palm?
