Upgrading from a previous Palm OS device? Start Here.

There are specific steps which should be taken when you upgrade from a previous Palm OS handheld, to a new one. Incompatible software can cause performance and Hotsync problems on your new device, if you do not follow the prescribed upgrade procedure outlined in these Upgrade Guides:

If your new device isn't listed here, you should visit the main Support page for your device and follow the Setup procedures linked there.

If you have a GarnetOS (OS5.4) device a list of what nasty things can happen if you do not precisely follow the upgrade procedure can be found in the Read This First flyer that comes with your new device.

Re: Upgrading from a previous Palm OS device? Start Here.

When I follow the link, on the page it asks what Palm device do you currently have. Having just purchased an E2 I click on that. Illogically much of the time the link then takes me to the Palm store as though I wanted to buy one. But other times it does as it should and takes me to the page for the Tungsten E2 setup is. Really weird and I have tried it multiple times with it going to the Palm store more often to the E2 upgrade instructions. But then after maybe a few tries, then it will go to the right page.

I don't know whether the fact that I'm running Firefox has anything to do with it--I've noticed that some web pages aren't set up to work with Firefox.

Thanks for the link. After reading posts by people that just tried to hot sync the new device or something, I don't want to go that route, so appreciate the instructions.

Thanks for letting us know that. Definitely weird...I also use Firefox and I've just gone to the link about 20 times and it's not taken me to the Palm Store...just the E2 setup page site as it should. Try clearing the private data in Firefox (tools > clear private data > select Browsing History and Cache) to see if that clears it up for you.

Thanx, I'll give that a try.
