ANNIVERSARY CONTACT COPY

[ Edited ]

Hey guys... I was wondering if anybody has heard... have this problem with Anniversaries... ok... only some of my contacts have an Anniversary... others do not... so i leave it blank obviously... but it seems everytime i sync the phone... after when i look back at the contacts... the ones with anni's have it but ones without get passed on from last contact with one...

Example:-

(before sync)

John Doe

Anni: 10/6/2000

Jane Moe

Anni: Tap to add

(after sync)

John Doe

Anni: 10/6/2000

Jane Moe

Anni: 10/6/2000

This always happens... then when the time comes for a anniversary... the alarm goes on for how many people are under original to next original...

can anyone help?

Ive looked everywhere without success...

Thanks...

Chris

I've had the same problem with invalid information in the Anniversary field. It usually shows up after a sync. Usually it is the same as other correct Anniversary field information, but it ends up duplicated in a record in which it shouldn't exist.

On my Palm Desktop, there is no field within the contact records for Anniversary, only on the PDA. Is it the same with you?

Re: ANNIVERSARY CONTACT COPY

[ Edited ]

I added an Anniversary date in 1 contact record on the PDA last night. I also changed about 20 other Contact records on the Desktop, and added 2 Categories in the Contacts area on the Desktop. For many of the ~20 Contact records that I changed, I also changed their Categories that were assigned to them, to one of the 2 new ones.

After I synced, I decided to check the PDA due to the problems we're having with this. OFC, since the wrong information gets entered totally randomly, the easiest way (though NOT easy), to do this is to keep pressing right on the five-way button while you are in the Calendar on the Day view, and do that 365 times. (I probably have about 24 different ~real~ Anniversaries set, and fortunately I'm familiar with most of them so I can tell what's real and what's incorrect, if new Anniversaries pop up unexpectedly for the same days.)

Well, on two of the days where there were ~real~ Anniversaires set, 8 or 9 additional bogus Anniversaries also showed up for each day. They got added underneath the ~real~ Anniversaries set for the 2 days. All of them, of course, had the same date as the ~real~ Anniversary for that day, but they were also the exact same year as the ~real~ Anniversary, too. The records referenced, generally, were one of the 20 Contact records that I had changed, but I didn't check for sure that all were. I'll try to next time. To get rid of them, you have to select each bogus Anniversary and choose Delete. But, the deleted bogus Anniversary doesn't seem to be gone at that point. It just sits there. If you change days, say to the next day, and go back, then the bogus Anniversary, which you deleted, finally disappears.

This is pretty weird behavior. Somehow the database fields are getting fried. I guess maybe not many people are using the Anniversary field, or I would think we would be seeing more messages about problems with it.

Please let me know if you learn anything more about it, or if the behavior you see matches mine, above, or how yours is working differently.

Tx!

Gill 28.11.77 (No anniversary)

Greg 19.6.08

Fred 20.9.06

Re: ANNIVERSARY CONTACT COPY

Well, I will add my 2 cents worth.  I am having the same problem with my 755p and desktop 4.2.  Desktop doesn't have the anniversary date in it, yet the Treo does.  The only anniversary date I entered was my own.  I have about 250 contacts.  Everyone after my name now has the same anniversary I do.  At first, I thought it was just a bad sync.  I deleted all the incorrect ones (took a long time using the Treo!).  My next sync did exactly the same thing.

I do find it interesting that this problem has been going on for at least 3 months now, and it hasn't been corrected.  I saw in another post that Palm doesn't actually make the desktop software (haven't verified this), but that would make sense - if the desktop software and the phone software are independantly created and upgraded, it's like the saying, 'the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing'......

Centro and 650 to mark the anniversary, we mark option to be remembered on the screen. How the Pro?
