Re: Date Book takes over a week to sync

I have been using a Palm product since 1998 thus my date book is extremely large.  My HP laptop hard drive failed and I lost all my current palm data.  Fortunately all my current data is still on my Palm Centro.  Also my palm data through 2/2010 is on my previous HP Vista 32 bit laptop.  I have all my data current on the Vista laptop except my calendar.  I have tried numerous times to synce the Centro to the laptop but the syncs are unsuccesful after going on ofr 6-8 days straight!

Any suggestions on how to get my current date book on the Centro to complete a sync with the 2/10 calendar on my laptop??

When you try to sync, what happens?

A couple suggestions. First, if you have a SD storage card installed, I strongly suggest you back ul your Centro to it using a freeware app called NVBackup. Google it, copy the nvbackup.prc file to the card with an inexpensive card reader, into the /palm/launcher folder on the card (create the folder if you have to), and run the app to backup everything. It is an invaluable tool if your data is important to you.

Next, try to change the Hotsync conduit settings to Handheld Overwrites Desktop and syncing again.. This will help if a data corruption on the desktop is preventing a successful sync.

Lastly, also using a card reader, go to pimlicosoftware.com and download and copy a program called dbfixit onto your card, and run it on the Centro. It will identify corrupt "blobs" of data which can prevent a successful hotsync, and allow you to delete them.

Just checking...what version of Palm Desktop are you using? 6.2.2 is recommended for Vista machines.

Good luck, let us know your results.
