I lost my calendar data after my PC desktop froze. The only information remaining appears to be some birthdays and a few repeating events (not many).
I tried a hotsync, but then lost the data from the PDA. My Zire 31 PDA version is 4.1.4. I have had many Palm PDAs over the years. My husband and I both have Palm Zire 31s. I would like to make sure I don't lose HIS data before doing his a hotsync. I would also like to see if I can retrieve my data. I am not sure whether I did one or two hotsync operations on my PDA.
My desktop has several Palm directories under Program Files.
There are files under Program Files\Palm directory which has some subdirectories, but the initials of the first names somehow were changed to LastName0, LastName0(2) and LastName(2)
Address files under LastName0 has 2 files "address" which is a 1,751 KB DAT File and "address.bak" which is a 1,751 KB BAK file. File dates are 8/8/09.
Address files under LastName0(2) has 1 file called "address" which is a 1 KB DAT File and no backup file. File date is 8/8/09.
Address files under LastName(2) has 1 file called "address" which is a 1,751 KB DAT File. I think I may have copied this file into this directory trying to get the hotsync to work. There is no backup file. File date is 8/8/09. There is also a "UiPrefs" 1KB DAT File.
I tried changing one of the file names to the PDA file name, but it did not allow it.
There is also a ZireV subdirectory which has an address file and a backup(2). The address files are dated 8/5/09.
There are also subdirectories under Program Files\palmOne. There is a subdirectory under LastNameD for my husband and LastNameV for my directory.
LastNameD has an address subdirectory with the files "address" with 1,536 KB DAT File dated 10/9/09 and an "address.bak" file with 1,536 KB BAK File dated 10/9/09.
LastNameV, which is the file where the address data was lost during the crash, has the following files in it.
"address" with 1,759 KB DAT File dated 10/17/09 3:31 AM,
"address.bak" with 1,759 KB BAK File dated 10/17/09 3:31 AM,
"UiPrefs" with 1 KB DAT File dated 10/17/09 3:31 AM, and
"Unfiled.ABA" with 68 KB ABA File dated 6/1/09 8:23 AM.
Can any of these files be used to retrieve my data?
Also, how do I insure we don't lose my husband's data? His is critical to his business activities.
Thanks for any help anyone could provide! Please help!

I have experienced the same problem. I left my computer on with Palm Desktop open...I came back later to find that the computer had restarted (I'm pretty sure it was because of a Windows Automatic Download/Update. Now, all of my calendar information is missing except for repeating events. Fortunately, I backup my entire system on a regular basis. Unfortunately, restoring the files inside the C:\Program Files (x86)\palmOne directory has not seemed to restore my calendar to its previous state.
Did you have any luck in solving this issue? Can anybody tell me where the Palm Desktop stores its calendar data and if I can just overwrite the "new" file with the "old" file in order to restore my data and functionality? Any and all help is much appreciated! Thanks!

I switched from windows XP to windows 7 and lost the name and address data in my computer.
My hotsync stopped working in March.
Can I recover the data?
Thanks, Peter
