NVBackup

I have had numerous recommendations to install Nvbackup for my Treo 755p.  I am correct in that this program installs on a SD card and not actually on my Treo?  Where can I get this program and details on its use.  Thanks for the help.

Re: NVBackup

Hi ..  Welcome to the Palm forums.  I use nvbackup myself on my centro.  It is a free program which allows you to backup the entire device.  You are correct it does require a sd card as it will only save backups to a sd card.  Try this link http://mytreo.net/downloads/nv-backup,1090.html which has more info and the download is also available.  Hope that helps.

Re: NVBackup

[ Edited ]

You need to install NVBackup on your Palm Device then it will make a copy to the card when it does a backup.

I strongly recommend you have it in both places and actually, I don't know that it will backup properly if only on the card.

If you want to have it backup at certain times (eg: while you sleep) then it must defiitely be on the Device.

This is true of any app that uses any Time or Alarm feature.

The latest version (it is version 1.21 at the moment) of NVBackup is always @
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=92189&package_id=186018

You only need to download binaries.zip

All the best, woz of oz

Re: NVBackup

Must be installed in RAM for automated backups, and

Must be installed on card in order to restore after hard reset.

Happy user here.

Re: NVBackup

I have been running nv backup 1.22b9 on my Sprint Treo 755p for 6 months. It is FABULOUS. I wouldnt even consider using my Treo without having this program. My Treo had been doing spontaneous hard resets back to factory settings, numerous times, for no reason, losing EVERYTHING on the treo. It just did it again in fact. Using nv back up which is stored on the sd card (not affected by the hard rest) I was able to restore eveything including applications in about 5 minutes! The only thing lost were the new entries I made today as the automatic backup ran at 2:30 am.

I only wish I could set NV to do automatic backups more than once a day.

Re: NVBackup

Awesome and many thanks....

I just downloaded the free nvbackup software onto my computer so I can back my Sprint Tree 755 p for contact and calendar information.  (I've been so lucky that nothing has happened to all this data to this point bc I don't have anything backed up and my entire life of scheduling is entrusted to this one place.

My question is do I need to download the nvbackup software onto my Treo 755 p phone as well or do I just need to do a hotsync of the phone to the computer to get it to work?

Thanks in advance for your help with this as I'm just learning the ropes of this.

Re: NVBackup

Hi Steve, a few things:

1. NVBackup is designed for your phone - not your PC!  It backs up the data to an SD card.  When you install it to the phone, it will make another copy on the card itself.  Be sure you have a card in the phone when installing it!  It needs to be installed just like any other PalmOS program.

2. Posting your email address in a public forum is akin to writing your phone number on the wall of a bus station.  Look for tons of spam to soon arrive in your inbox!  (I'd suggest you edit your post.)

Re: NVBackup

I am attempting to install NVBACKUP on my Sprint Centro phone which will not synch through hotsync. I have downloaded the NVBACKUP zip and put on my SDHC card in a file structure PALM>LAUNCHER>NVBACKUP.prc . The card is recognized on the phone.  Question is how do I get this app installed to the phone? If I try to copy from card to phone the app is not listed. It appears to me the only way to get NVBACKUP install to the phone ram is to sync the phone? I tried a soft restart but that did not install NVBACKUP. I do not want to hard restart until I can get my address book copied to my pc. Any other ideas?
