Re: Syncs fine -- missing all data in Desktop App

I have installed 4.1.4e and am running with that.  (Vista-32, 755p). It is run as administrator, whether necessary or not.  HotSync is set for handheld to overwrite desktop as the default for all items at the moment, as the Palm desktop is brand new.  Sync does pick up tasks and memos but does not appear to have any interest in doing anything with the calendar or contacts!

Is there any information in the sync configuration settings that would indicate exactly what is going on with this?

One other item which may be related or not: when I try to view the HotSync log it cannot locate it when it attempts to look at C:\Program Files\Palm\(user)\HotSynclog.htm (it's not there).  I cannot locate it as being located anywhere on my system.

Verify the conduit settings again to make sure they are set to handheld overwries desktop. Try sync'ing one PIM at a time. There is nopthing in the config settings to indicate the failure, unless the conduits are set to "do nothing".

Try a soft reset to see if that may help.

When you go to hotsync manager and click on view log, it will not open?

Re: Syncs fine -- missing all data in Desktop App

I got the Hot Sync to work with Outlook but I had to go through all the steps again since it wouldn't sync when I pushed the button on my cradle. Is there an easier way? If not, I'll live with it, at least it works.

Caliconsultant,

Once you have the sync set to Outlook and have sync'ed Ok, the only thing you should have to do is pair the handheld to the PC via bluetooth and sync.

Re: Syncs fine -- missing all data in Desktop App

Although this is an old thread Im hoping its still checked. I did a clean install of Win 7 on my PC without backing up my palm desktop. I have a Tungsten 2. I re installed Desktop. I know my password but im not sure what my user name is. I have 2 that I know it could be. Will it erase my palm if it is wrong? Can i look in the menu of the palm somewhere to see my user name?

@gditta - Open the Hotsync app on the device, and look in the top right corner for the Hotsync account name.
