  I have multiple problems. I'm using Vista and Tungsten E2

I want to copy Word documents from my desktop to my handheld but I cannot do that.

1) I have Quick Install on my desktop but it won't transfer Word doc files to my handheld.  Only to expansion card which I don't have.  Is this only for photos?

2) I have Documents to Go on my hand held but not on my desktop

3)  When I registered my Palm I hit next to go to #4 for software, but nothing happened.

4) When I try to reinstall the Palm disk I get error message 1316.

5) I have tried several times to shut down and reboot, but that made no difference.

I cannot understand why I don't have the same programs on both the desktop and handheld.

I only have the programs and applications that were automatically installed.  I have never had this problem before with previous Palms.

I can't get free advice, because when I replaced my Palm I was way too busy to do any file transfers.

Hi..  Welcome to the Palm forums.  Word docs do not move to the device via the quick install thus your problem.  Docs to go is required on both the device and computer which will install its own installer to move and sync those .doc files. So what you need to do is go to dataviz.com and purchase, if you dont already have a full copy of docs to go, and install it on the computer.  As for the for installing the palm desktop software cd, if that is the original cd that came with the E2 the version of palm desktop is not compatible with vista, and if your version of vista is 64 bit you will only be able to sync via bluetooth.  You will need version 4.1.4e which you can find by following this link http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/nua/launchKB.asp?c=32991  .

Thanks, but why do I have data vis on my handheld but not on my computer?

Hi..  If docs to go is on your device it would appear that it came as additional software which would be on the cd.  If not then it was installed some how.  Once you get the full version you install it to the computer and then sync and it will update the version on your device.   You will also then have a short cut for docs to go on the desktop of your computer.

From what I've found Documents To Go will not install on a pc running Vista 64 bit. I'm looking for a way around this (without downgrading my OS). Any help would be appreciated.

Error 1316 is an irritating installation error. It pops up when a software is being installed, uninstalled or repaired on your computer. Follow the following guidelines to fix this error: 1. Use Windows Installer Clean Up 2. Use a Registry Fixing Utility 3. Change Windows Installer Registry Information 4. Check the Security Details of the Concerning File you can also get some help from this article to fix error 1316
