help for palm i705

i got a palm i705 from the thrift store, not knowing it was outdated. i was unable to register it so i called palm support and he said he registered me on his end but in reality the palm i705 has no support. i asked how i could download ebooks from the computer to the palm (the reason i bought it was so i could read ebooks on it) and he said i should ask that here. my device is not activated, yet he said i should be able to put ebooks on it. can someone tell me how to do this please?

Re: help for palm i705

You need to download and install an ebook reader app. Search the internet for an ebook reader for Palm OS. Mobipocket has a reader for your i705.

Once downloaded to your PC, you will need to install the app using quick install.

First you will need to download and install Palm Desktop software in order to sync the reader to your device.

Here is a link to the support page for your device; http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/47831_en.html#i705

Click on the link to download Palm Desktop. Follow the instructions during the install process. There is also a link for the user guide so you can see how to install 3rd party apps. to your HandHeld.

I would suggest you Hard Reset your device prior to installing. It may have the previous owners info. and username on the HH. you will need to remove that name if it is on the HH. If you can power on your HH, go to the hotsync app on the HH and look in the upper right corner of the screen. If you see a name listed there, that is the current hotsync username. Ideally it should be blank so you can create your own username for Palm Desktop when you install Palm Desktop.

The hard reset will erase all data on the device.
Click on the following link to the kb.hpwebos.com webpage for the article regarding reset procedures

FYI, you do not need to activate the i705. Just install Palm Desktop and setup your HH.

Just jumping in onto your thread.

One question, can I make the download using Windows 7?

Cheers

Re: help for palm i705

If you have Win7 64bit, you will need the 64 bit USB drivers located here;

You will need to install these drivers if you are going to sync the program to your device via the USB cable.
