So the new Sprint Centro's are sent out with a 1.08 ROM. Mine has a 1.07, however, there is nowhere for me to get this latest update. Hardly seems fair since Verizon and AT&T can download the most recent version of the software just fine. So where is our update Palm?
When I called Palm to see if they could send me a link or download she acted like I was an alien and had no idea what I was talking about, but check out the following link from Sprint:
And of course Sprint's website refers you to Palms for updates/software downloads.
Also, why can't we do a software update from our phone? Or check for the latest software versions? Which alot of applications/phones let you do right over the handset without hooking the phone up to the computer?
Now the applications themselves on the Centro do let you check to make sure you are running the most current software, but for the phone operating system as a whole I can't find anywhere that lets me update!

I can't verifiy what version is on the last Sprint Centros, but as you already know 1.07 is the latest update available and most likely will be the last.
What difference are you seeing on a phone with 1.08 vs. 1.07? Anything noticable?

Mine actually came with 1.08 to begin with, but my Google Maps feature wasn't working, it would freeze up or run so slow you couldn't use it. So genius as I am went to the palm site and downloaded the most recent update (1.07) without first checking what was on my phone to begin with. So once I changed mine from 1.08 (preinstalled) to 1.07 my Google Maps feature works perfect, but I lost my Facebook app. So I found where I could download the facebook app back on the I Phone and did so.
So now I have all my features working which was the initial problem to begin with. But then I started to worry that maybe I lost something important in the update, some feature, or glitch fix, enhancement that wasn't on the 1.07 and reason for the upgrade to 1.08 on the new phones.
So I called Palm (they said no update available for 1.08) and then went to Sprint, which said it's preinstalled there's no downloadable update, so there's nothing I can do.
It works fine. I'm just a little apprehensive that maybe I lost something important when downgrading the software, even though I fixed my initial issue (problem with Google Maps).

I just took a look at all the download support pages for the Centro. Verizon's most current downloadable update is 1.03. Sprint is at 1.07. AT&T, Bell, and Rogers have no downloads. There is also no update for the unlocked Palm Centro.
If a newer ROM version has been complied, it looks like it hasn't been released to the public.

It is my understanding that Google Maps will download and install on a Palm OS Centro. However, there are some newer features that will not work or are not supported on Palm OS 5.x phones like the Centro, and the Treo 755p.
