I've been trying for a week now to delete a contact from my address book. Every time I try I get a message saying "Google Talk profiles can not be deleted". I've deleted this contact from my Google Talk contact list in the Google Talk PC software and have also deleted the contact from my Gmail contact list. When I delete my Google Talk account from my Pre the contact disappears but when I readd the account the contact is readded. How do I permanently remove this contact?Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)
After you remove it from Google Talk and from Gmail (Gmail from your PC), have you given it time to sync so that the Pre recognizes that it's not longer listed and will remove the contact itself? Give it a day if you're going to try this. I've seen issues arise from Google Talk and Google voice and since these are not native apps to the Pre, I'm not exactly sure how it's handling these events. Give it a shot. Can't hurt at this point. ![]()

Ok, I had same problem, you have to remove the contact VIA PC, go to google and remove the person, then you have to remove your account from the Pre, remove the email and gtalk, both accounts. Then reboot the Pre and then reinstall the email account and after that reinstall the gtalk account and all will be fine.
+1 ^^

I am still having a problem of deleting the contact.
Number one - I don't have have google talk - never have. I have removed my google account from the phone - and yet this one contact still shows up. I have removed it from my google account ages ago and still when I try to delete it from the pre it says google talk profiles can't be deleted. I have rebooted the pre as you suggested... nothing
Please help.

In order to get this to work for me, I had to make sure the contact was deleted from my google contacts, delete all the emails/chat logs from that contact, make sure the contact was blocked and removed from my IM client (Adium), remove my contacts and my google talk account from the pre, reboot the phone, and then re-add & sync the google contacts and google talk account on the phone. All of these things had to be done before it worked, if any of those steps weren't checked it would still show up in my contacts list. Very frustrating.

I have the same problem. I perform all these steps and the contact still there.
There is something strange. If I remove the google acount. Why I still have the gtalk contacts ?

The reason it stays on your phone is that you've probably got your google account setup using your Messaging software.
Delete the contact from your Gmail contacts list, then remove the Google account from Messaging. Then reregister the Google account in Messaging and it should be gone from your contacts. However, like someone else mentioned, Google is a third party and it can take a little time for the Gmail contacts list to sync up with the Talk database - I'm not convinced they are consolidated.

I need help with this, too, and am confused about what it is that exactly needs to be done to delete a google talk contact from my phone.
