The pre was awesome the first time it linked all of my contacts together and downloaded their info and pictures from my various accounts.  After having it for a couple of months I've noticed that my facebook friends have long since changed their account pictures, yet my phone does not realize this and re-sync with the account.  Supposedly the Pre does all of this cool background work to perform these syncs, whereas all I see is the same old original pictures.

Great idea .... Sad Bug

Have you tried removing the facebook account and adding it again. I know mine has been updating fine on its own without me doing anything. I know this cause everyone in my facebook list has been doing some sort of old photo theme and switching there profile pics to an older photo of them. And I had not really noticed till reading your post and looked in the Pre contacts and there all updated. I did not go over each and every one, but from what I can tell background syncing is working for me. Also make sure your running the most current os 1.3.5.1 .

I had not tried removing because I really did not want to have to go back through and link profiles that did not link automatically since I have over 500 facebook contacts alone.  However, I did this with Facebook and LinkedIn and it resolved the issue.

While resolved, it is still disappointing that I will have to spend hours re-linking profiles when the Palm Pre is a device that is supposed to save user's time, not take it away.
