Hello - I can't find the answer to this, though I've searched. Excuse me if I missed it and this is a dup.
I rely on my yahoo email, and need to get messages frequently, i.e. little delay.
I set the email client to sync every 10 minutes. HOWEVER, often I check the phone, and the "last update" was 30 minutes ago. Most of the time, it's pretty close to every 10 minutes (maybe 13 mins, sometimes 20).
Now - I'm not doing anything with the phone - it's idle and has a data connection.
HELP! I've missed some time-sensitive emails now. When I bought the phone I assumed it did this very simple thing reliably, but apparently not
As a secondary issue (extra credit!) ---> why does the email client give up when it can't email out??? Like blackberry does, it should just keep trying occasionally until it can send... it doesn't complain - it knows cell connections are flaky and just retries occasionally.
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

Hello mattyprocks and welcome to the Palm forums.
I've found that when I have a connection problem with my Pre syncing with Gmail, I remote that particular Gmail account, restart the Pre, and then readd it. That ususally fixes up any sync issues.
When the phone stops syncing email, check to see what your celluarl signal strenght is. It is low, the Pre may not have a good data connection to the wireless network. If you are within range of a Wi-Fi network, you'll want to turn on Wi-Fi as it is more efficient with data connections than the cellular radio is.

Thank you for your response. Much appreciated.
I think you're right - if the signal is not strong enough, it just decides to skip the email.
As a former blackberry user, I find this super annoying, and really undesirable behavior. I know they want to conserve battery, so perhaps they should add an option for those of us who rely on email... i.e. "keep trying" or something. The phone shouldn't decide by itself that I don't need my email updated. It's one of the reasons why bberry was so successful... you always get emails
Anyways, I think enhancement requests are for the feedback page, so I will submit my request there.
Thanks again
