Re: Proper fix for Office 2010 sync issues

yes, without quotes. My version of Hot synch manager is 7.0.2 and both the ocpNotifer and ocpCounduit files (as you listed) have an 11.0 but no 12.0 .

I had a version of Outlook 2007 and Palm synched fine; but installed Outlook 2010 and ran into the issue of not synching with Calendar. I replaced 11.0 with 14.0 in both files but that did not work - changed them back to 11.0 A copy of the modified files would be greatly appreciated. If you like you can email files; mike.givens@gordon.edu I appreciate your help very much.

Re: Proper fix for Office 2010 sync issues

I just wanted to point out for us noobs here-

--Create a folder called BACK-UP in the Palm directory

Copy the 2 files that you will be editing and place it there. THIS WILL BE ESPECIALLY HELPFUL IF YOU MESS UP THE HEX EDITING like I did!

--you do have to look up the number 12.0 to find it, but you don't have to edit/change the whole number 12. Just highlight the number 2 and change it to a 4 and save on both files.

FYI I tried the Outlook editing method and messed that up- I didn't have a backup so I had to run the install again to then repair all my office 2010 files, including the outlook one I messed up.

PizzaBoy-Thank for the advice and tips! Worked like a charm. I preferred this method over editing the outlook.exe file as it takes care of the root problem (Palm not accepting the new version of outlook) vs. modifying a key Office 2010 file.

That is the link to the file (hosted on my site)
You NEED to have the 2007 compatibility patch installed. if you don't, it won't work (this includes if you upgrade, you need to uninstall and re-install the conduits update)
Then you can just drop these two files in and you're good to go.

Re: Proper fix for Office 2010 sync issues

Luck with syncing: no.
Luck with USB: yes.

(I needed to use legacy hardware anyways, so I didn't care to do this step with my Palm too)

I haven't finished testing and I'm too tired tonight to give it a final go, but it should work just fine (will let you use some of your cheap chinese gaming stuff too)

The problem I have run into for X64 outlook is intercepting the call for where to find outlook. It's looking in C:\Program Files(x86) when it needs to be looking in the C:\Program Files folder. I have found that just running x86 Outlook (and office) isn't any worse or better on my 8gb of ram desktop... doubt it would be different for any other person (and it's included with an x64 copy)

i'll keep digging, but it'll take a long while (some help would be greatly appreciated to find out what files are used for the outlook conduits and what files and places are called from them.)

thanks

I sync my Palm T/X wirelessly. I wouldn't even know where to begin. Thanks for your efforts.

Re: Proper fix for Office 2010 sync issues

Pizzaboy,

Many thanks for the help on this (Sync with Outlook, 2010, 32-bit) and the link to your updated files!

I'm unclear on one thing you wrote:

"You NEED to have the 2007 compatibility patch installed. if you don't, it won't work (this includes if you upgrade, you need to uninstall and re-install the conduits update)"

Is the "Compatibility Patch" the same thing as the 2007 conduits update?  Should I drop the two files you shared into the C:\Program Files\Palm directory before or after installing the 2007 conduits update?

Thanks

You need to install the conduits update before copying these files.
If you've upgraded from Office 2007 to 2010, you need to re-install the conduits update before copying the files.

Re: Proper fix for Office 2010 sync issues

Thanks, Pizza Boy!

I suspected it could be done this more elegant way...I just didn't know how.
