START HERE - HOTSYNC TROUBLESHOOTING - START HERE

[ Edited ]

Hotsync failures can be maddening. If you have not already done so, at the suggestion of DTfromBH, we suggest you start with Palm Support's Hotsync Troubleshooting article, linked here:

http://tinyurl.com/g5jkh

It covers the causes of, and the and solutions for the vast majority of Hotsync issues.

** OFFICE 2007 and WINDOWS 7 / VISTA ALERT for Documents To Go users:

If you are using Office 2007, and/or syncing with Windows 7 / Vista AND you also are a Documents To Go user, please refer to www.dataviz.com.

Documents to Go users (version 9 or earlier) who are using Office 2007 products from Micro$oft, may encounter Hotsync problems. If so, you might need to upgrade your DTG product to the current Version 10. Users of DTG v.7, for example, which ships with the Palm TX have had difficulties trying to Hotsync Office 2007 documents.

Similarly, www.dataviz.com advises that its current Version 10 is compatible with the new Palm Desktop 6.2 Vista-compatible beta. Please visit www.dataviz.com for more information.

If your computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows (XP, Vista, 7), a company named Aceeca recently published 64-bit USB drivers.  Check them out by reviewing this tread.

Lastly, if your Hotsync operation stalls or freezes at a particular database such as Contacts or Calendar, you might have a damaged database, or "blobs" of data which is causing the sync to hang.  Go through the Troubleshooting article first...if that doesn't do it, check out the awesome utility from www.pimlicosoftware.com called DbFixIt.  It will tell you if your handheld has corrupted databases, and let you delete blobs of bad data.  And for a small registration fee, it can also repair them.  No affiliation, just a happy user!

Now if they could just add an FAQ dealing with hot synch error messages: Some PC records were not copied to the handheld. Your handheld may be full.

Found an FAQ for a warning that the desktop may be full, but nothing to answer this one.

Re: START HERE - HOTSYNC TROUBLESHOOTING - START HERE

I'm having a weird problem. I have a 650 and I recently updated (I refuse to say upgraded) to Windows Vista after my prior laptop was stolen. I installed the latest Vista drivers and it Hotsyncs like a charm. However, the log does not work.
Initially I did not realize that it defaulted to Palm Desktop conduits and so I was syncing and the log was working just fine. It would log everytime that I synched and display messages.
However, immediately after I switched conduits to Outlook the logging quit. It will display a pop-up by the system tray after a Hotsync that tells me "Sync successful with messages" but when I click on it to bring up the program it just shows the last successful Hotsync with the Palm Desktop conduits. Oh, I can look on the 650 itself to see that "Sync ok" and the messages are from the Calendar.
This problem has continued for a couple of weeks after multiple reboots, manual restarting of the Hotsync application etc.
Any advice?

Re: START HERE - HOTSYNC TROUBLESHOOTING - START HERE

I have a Palm Tungsten E and owed it for the past three years. I have had absolutely no problems untill three days ago when I tried to perform a Hot Synch operation. I  connect using a cable and when I tapped the Hot Synch icon, I got a dull bell sound but the Hot Synch icon didn't open up on my desktop. After much head scratching I carried out a number of things including a reset - checked the cable - checked different USB Ports etc all no to avail. I carried out a reinstallation of all the software from the Palm disc - checked a step by step guide on the Palm site which eventually prompted me to go to go Start - (right click) My Computer - Device Manager - Hardware tab - I noticed that my Palm had a yellow exclamation alongside it and when I clicked this, it prompted me to search out drivers ? - I put my Palm software disc into my PC and carried out a search, the Drivers were found and Hey Presto ! I'm now back in business again and my Hot Synch now works. Why this Driver didn't install when when I originally tried a reinstallation from the Palm software disc is a mystery.
If I hadn't resolved this issue I was on the verge of either throwing the Palm away or carrying out a full system restore on my PC.
I hope that this may be of help to others who have had a similar problems.

Re: START HERE - HOTSYNC TROUBLESHOOTING - START HERE

Hi.  I have an unlocked Palm 680 which has mysteriously stopped synching with my Outlook Calendar but still synchs fine with everything else.  I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions and downloaded dbfixit and still no joy.  No new Appointments have been synched since this issue appeared, but some are being duplicated everytime I perform a HotSync. This is the log report;

Outlook Calendar
OLERR:03-0010
OLERR:0D-000E
OLERR:0D-0004
OLERR:0D-0001
- Recovery Sync
Outlook Calendar synchronization failed

Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!
