Synchronizing Palm Treo 680 Unlocked with Outlook 2003 on Windows 7

After 2 full install and reinstall of Palm 6.2 I cannot synch my Outlook 2003 and Palm Treo 680

Hotsynch Journal says everything has synchronized correctly but new meetings and task changes in one platform do not appear on other platform.

There is an error mentioned for file PmTrcae Database (Protocol error 4004)

I must mention that Installation process seems to drop after announcing that first hotsynch will be performed, it never does, I had to start it manually from the Treo.

Will there be a proper Windows 7 version published?

Re: Synchronizing Palm Treo 680 Unlocked with Outlook 2003 on Windows 7

Hello Esde and welcome to the Palm forums. When installing or reconfiguring Palm Desktop and it's conduits on Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7, you will need to be logged in under your Windows user ID. Your Windows ID needs to be a member of the administrator group to be able to install and configure the software. At this time, Palm does not have any plans to release a version of Palm Desktop written specifically for Windows 7. Palm Desktop 6.22 has been written for Vista and should work well under Windows 7. Re: Synchronizing Palm Treo 680 Unlocked with Outlook 2003 on Windows 7

The situation remains unchanged.I am always logged in as Administrator. I have been using Palm since the Pilot on many platforms and I did download the latest version from the site.

I thought of opening Palm Desktop, which I haven’t done in years and there they are, all he changes made on the Treo that have “synched” to the computer. One more test… yes, the changes made on the Palm Desktop make it to the Treo.

The problem therefore seems to be the recognition of Outlook 2003 after a Windows 7 migration.

I remind you (original posting) that the reinstallation process (with the latest version) terminates incorrectly soon after making the choice between Palm Desktop and Outlook.

Thanks for your help,

Re: Synchronizing Palm Treo 680 Unlocked with Outlook 2003 on Windows 7

Esde, have you tried "throwing the switch" to change the sync target from Palm Desktop to Outlook?

Start Button/All Programs/Palm/PIM Conduit Sync/Sync with Outlook.

Thank you WireNut.

My Outlook 2003 on Windows 7 is now synched through the cable/craddle with my Treo 680. Don't know why the installation failed but everything works with this additionnal step.

I downloaded v.6 onto my new Windows 7 computer. When I try to hot sync, I get a window stating that the driver is missing and I cannot find a driver on your site or on windows to download.  I don't think Outlook is involved here; I don't use it.

Are you running a 64bit version of Win7?

As reported many, many times in this forum, there are no USB drivers for this version.
