I am having the same problem "Grumpy" is having. The hot sync software does not offer bluetooth as a connection option. I did have to install a bluetooth adapter and then reinstall the Palm software but it still does not recognize bluetooth as an option for connection. I tried going to regedit to do a clean install but could not find any of the files you mentioned.
I am using my bluetooth adapter to transfer files from my Palm755p to my Windows 7 64bit Toshiba notebook. Any idea why the Palm software is not giving me the Bluetooth option and a possible work-around? ![]()

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you befoer now . . . I've been sick for the last week or more with a bad case of bronchitis. I'm looking into getting an IR USB adapter, and was about to buy one when I got sick. When I feel a bit better and get caught up on all my e-mail, in the next few days, I hope to continue. If the IR adapter doesn't work, I may have to move to the next generation of PDA-type devices and start all over.
Thanks

My question is related to the issues discussed in this thread, but slightly different. I have an ancient Visor Pro PDA ,which has served me well for almost 10 years. I am currently using Windows XP and running Palm Desktop 4.0.1 with no problems. I am looking at replacing my XP based machine with a new desktop running Windows 7. I am aware that there is no software for the Visor Pro with is compatible with Windows 7. (Short of running in XP mode). I am now also ready to replace the Visor Pro with a new smart phone as well as the computer replacement. In this regard, I have three questions:
1. Is there an XP based program to which I can export the information in Palm Desktop? Will any suggested program accept both the Address Book Archive and the Date Book Archive. I have seen Outlook mentioned, but do not currently own it. I don't mind acquiring it, if necessary. I just don't want to lose 9+ years of contacts and data.
2. Once the information is transferred to a new program in the XP machine (Outlook or other), what smart phone- type devices will sync with that program. I'm open to any suggestions (iPhone, Blackberry, etc). I'm assuming here that the suggested program has a version compatible with Windows 7.
3. Lastly, in communicating with the new smart phone-type device, what is the normal connection mode (wireless, USB, Bluetooth, etc). I'd like to know the answer to that one to know if a special card will be needed in the new
Windows 7 machine.
I hope my needs are clear and make sense.

1973tr6,
If you move to another Palm OS device you can beam all your data over from the older device. Your calendar data you may have to do that one at at time unfortunately
.
Another solution would be to use a friends computer for just one sync and then export the data out. Then you can import it back in Palm Desktop 6.2.2.

ltrii,
1. You can export it out of your current version but import it back in to Palm Desktop 6.2.2. Palm Desktop while it is not designed to run in Windows 7 should work fine. The biggest issue is that of the synchronizing. That is a little harder to do with both Vista 64bit and Windows 7 64bit.
2. Just about any device will sync with Outlook. I haven't seen one yet that cannot. That includes the Palm Pre (It does not sync to a desktop PC "out of the box" but you can buy 3rd party programs to allow you to sync to it.
3. Depends on the device. Most newer device are 64bit compatible. Again the Pre is 64bit compatible.

Thanks. I been under the weather a bit lately and it'll probably take me 2 or 4 days to get caught up once I start to feel better.

Based on information found on a Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility page:
I purchased a Linksys USB Bluetooth Adapter USBBT100 so that I could hotsync wirelessly my Palm Centro (AT&T) with my Win 7 64-bit machine. After installing the adapter, I couldn't get the phone to recognize my computer and vice versa. I contacted Linksys and they said they don't have a driver for Windows 7 yet.
Any workarounds for this, folks? If I knew a different adapter was compatible with a Win 7 machine, I would just go get it and eat the money for the Linksys.
Any help would be sincerely appreciated!!!

Hello again,
Well, as I told you the desktop and my centro synched, but now I am having trouble performing a new hotsync. I put the Bluetooth adapter in, hit hotsync on the palm, and got a message "unable to initiate hotsync opreration because the port is in use by another application." Also, under devices on my computer it informs me that the driver for my palm centro is not installed. Any thoughts?
