change from Palm to Outlook

I currently sync to Palm desktop (latest version) using a Centro.

Can I change to sync to Outlook (2003) instead?

Re: change from Palm to Outlook

Hello!

You sure can change the sync method to Outlook and it should be as simple as using your start menu on the PC:

Go to Start -> All Programs/Programs -> Palm folder -> PIM Conduit Sync -> Select sync with Outlook.

Viola!  Your next hotsync is going to Outlook.

Re: change from Palm to Outlook

I'm trying to do the same, but I want to be able to edit the datebook -- it goes back to 2000 and I don't want all that data on my work machine.

I exported the .dba file and opened it in Excel.  Looked just fine, except the field labels are not obvious.  None say DATE.   The only likely one is Record ID that has an 8 digit number.

Any idea how to convert to something readable?

Thanks.

Re: change from Palm to Outlook

Hi,

I want to do the reverse, from syncing my Palm Centro with Outlook to syncing with Palm Desktop. The instructions are clear, but they don't work.

I re-installed my OS (vista home premium) and can't get hotsync back to work right. Using Desktop version 6.2.2.

I have tried it too many times now, every time uninstalling Palm Desktop completely because of an error, and everytime trying something slightly different. The first time it would not accept my existing user name, I created another, but that didn't work further down the line. Then I decided to sync with outlook, created a new user, didn't work (outlook 2007...) and now I am pretty lost. Tried it without any folders, and let the installation create them, tried it with copies of the back up folder, but then hotsync created a directory in the existing user directory (user name "lip" so now I have "lip" in "lip" in "lip" folder...).

I have received "Palm internal error: 2203. Windows\installer\7caaa.msi -2147287035" interrupted. Run again to complete, which I did and seemed okay.

At this point, hotsync is syncing calendar, contacts, to do and memo's to outlook, supposedly, because they are not there (hotsync is not compatible with outlook 2007, who could have guessed that...?). My pictures are in the Palm Desktop now.

I obviously have no clue how syncing works, and especially not why it has to be so complicated.

Does anyone know what the right way is to do this? Why can I not simply make a brandnew back up of my phone as if it was never ever backed up before?

Thanks a lot for any suggestions :smileyhappy:

Re: change from Palm to Outlook

I have a Palm Centro and using Palm desktop 4.2 and want to sync to Outlook instead of Palm Desk top. I tried to change the sync to Outlook but it didn't work. Looks like it started but sync was very short and nothing showed up on my Outlook. i am using Outlook 2010. Any suggestions.

Re: change from Palm to Outlook

I have a T|X that I've always synced with the Palm Desktop. I now want to sync it with Outlook 2010 on my Intel Atom processor netbook running Windows 7 Starter. I've switched the PIM Conduit to Outlook as described with no problem. And when I actually perform the sync it appears to be syncing with Outlook. But after syncing completes, absolutely no data from the T|X is in Outlook on my netbook.

The Log reports that everything except the Outlook Calendar has synced successfully.

Can someone help me get the voluminous data that is on my T|X into Outlook on my Netbook? I also have a laptop with Microsoft Office 2010 Professional running under Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) available to sync with, but somehow I doubt that using this higher-end machine would only make matters worse. :smileywink:

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you!

@flipnewf - have you read through the large thread at the top of this section about Outlook 2010?
