Sorry folks, surprisingly bad news. The new WebOS update--1.3.5--appears not to have fixed the issue. The font that the Pre uses when sending through Exchange is Verdana 12 point on 1.3.5 which is what you see here. There is no option to customize the Exchange email font. It will look fine on your screen when you type the email, but it will look like this to the recipient.
Its unfortunately time to get serious with Palm/Sprint about compensating for many months of inability to use the Pre for business, and/or switch to a device that allows a user to send a professional email.
3 Updates later and several months, you couldn't fix or post some advisement on the issue Palm? None of your competitors have allowed such a loss of critical functionality to go unanswered for weeks much less months. Scary.
I noticed Palm modified one of my posts to note that my post was regarding a Sprint Pre. I wonder if that means somehow Pre's using non-Sprint networks are relieved of this issue?

I'm very disappointed that Palm didn't address this issue in the 1.3.5 update. However, I'm happy to report that a user at Precentral has created with a patch that replicates Outlook 2007 formatting in e-mails sent from the Pre thru EAS. I just installed the patch and so far it works great (no more 12 pt verdana!) FYI, I run Exchange 2003 thru SBS 2003.
See info here: http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pre/219557-excha
It seems that this is a pretty quick/easy issue to fix, so I REALLY hope Palm resolves this in the next update.

Hi,
I registered to this forum just to raise this topic and lo I was not alone in this.
after so many posts and threads we are still to get a response. At least we should have a way to know whether this can be fixed or not?
i am having the same problem of font size and I am on 1.4.1 on O2. Is there a way to resolve this issue?

This issue has been going on with Sprint phones, later Verizon, and now O2. The OS updates don't address the problem at all, even though Palm has been aware of the issue for several OS iterations.
The SVP of Software and Services just resigned, and Palm is on the selling block. If that SVP was the responsible for the past several releases of the webOS which ignored this issue, then Palm did the right thing by not trying to keep that guy.
At a 30,000 foot view, its a great product. From the daily users point of view, webOS is incomplete and nealy abandoned product. Hopefully HTC, Motorola or Lenovo buy the company and finish this up. My pick would be HTC... they have great hardware.

there is a patch available for homebrewers via Preware that addresses the font issue. I installed it a few weeks ago and have not had any issues since then.

I recently got a Pre 2 with webOS 2.0 and this same problem still exists. I don't bother replying to work e-mails on my phone because of it. My coworkers with iPhones, Blackberrys, Windows 7 phones, and Android phones all don't have this issue.. seriously is there even ONE PERSON who wants that 12 pt font to be the default???

As it turns out, if you reply or forward a message the font comes through ok. The problem is when you compose a new message the default font (which can't be changed) is a 12-point Verdana which, for business emails, does look a bit awkward.
