Gmail over IMAP with "As Items Arrive" fails to sync (yellow alert / bang icon)

[ Edited ]

Hello,

For about a week now, my Pre hasn't been auto-syncing my IMAP Gmail email messages. The specific situation is this:

  • My Exchange account syncs just fine
  • Outlook syncs the same Gmail account just fine
  • It started without any change to my mail account or any other network/email changes
  • I've tried emptying my mail inbox and reducing the number of messages in my account
  • Removing and re-adding the account with and without a different name doesn't help
  • Setting the update time to anything other than "As Items Arrive" works
  • Changing the number of days to sync makes no difference
  • The issue persisted from before the last WebOS update through the current version (1.3.5)
  • I've complete reset my phone using WebOS Doctor and the issue persisted
  • If I disconnect from (any) wireless network and just use the EVDO connection, the yellow alert icon disappears, but auto-sync still doesn't work

I've spent the last several hours reading all the related forum posts I could find here and at precentral.net.  All the suggested solutions I have found haven't worked.

Is there any kind of activity or error log on the phone that I can get access to?  At least knowing the specific error would help in finding a solution.  Any other thoughts or insight wouldbe greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch!

DaveE

Well, I don't know how, but after removing all the accounts on my Pre (manually), manually backing up what remained to my Synergy/Palm Profile account, running WebOS Doctor once more and then re-adding all my accounts manually, Gmail is working again.  I can't say exactly what fixed it, but man, what a pain!

Oh, and on a side note - nice going with the 2010 EAS (Exchange) calendar FAIL, Palm.  I really appreciate that "little" bug too. *Rant off*
