pre2 - unable to retrieve email text.....

I have just received my Palm Pre2.....I have set-up my private email account and incoming aswel as outgoing is working fine atleast at incoming I do receive the headers, but when opening an header it says "Retrieving email text"....after that it comes with the error "Unable to download message"......think this is very strange as it does download the headers from my private email provider onto the Pre2 so would say that my incoming account settings are correct and also I can generate a new email and sent it out without any issues, so also my outgoing mail account settings are correct...........but as stated before I cannot open an text body and neither reply on a message as I then get "Unable to download message".....anybody an idea how to fix this?

Hi Renzov,

 

not that it will help you a lot, but I experience exactly the same problems with my Palm Pre 2.

When trying to download messages from Telenet (Belgium), the headers of the messages are downloade correctly. However when trying to read a message, it first shows "retreiving email text ..." and comes up with the error "Unable to download message".  I hope someone will come up with a solution.

Just spoke to my colleague and he experience also the same issue......hope Palm is reading this and provide an solution soon....

not realy a direct solution......but you can sync via a google account then you can read your text messages....

thanks renzov, I will give it a try. Did you contact support on this? I cannot imagine that there is or will be a solution for this problem.

you do not believe it, but it has been fixed in firmware 2.0.1

My Palm Pre 2 was working just fine until 2.01 and now I get the timeout "Unable to download message" immediately after I try to open the body of an email "Retrieving email text..." This happens on both my Exchange and Google accounts. All of the mails actually sync i.e. the header, subject etc... but I cannot read the main body of any mail. All my calendar and contacts are sync'ing correctly. I tried all the 6T's (Support Article Article ID: 66394) except for the last one reloading the OS which I don't really want to do unless absolutely nexessary. Note it was working fine with 2.01 for a week or so before this problem started.

I have just received my Palm Pre2 and also had the problem with retrieving email text.

 

I installed webOS 2.0.1 and now appear to be getting random retrieval of email text. It did appear to work at first but then I just get a black box on the screen and it doesn't retrieve the email text. It doesn't appear to be a problem with simple text emails, it is the more complex emails with pictures etc where the problem is occurring.

 

Does anyone have any idea as to how to resolve this?

 

UPDATE - It appears to just relate to retrieving emails from my POP3 Virginmedia account. If I forward email from PC to Googlemail account it is retrieved correctly.
