AT&T and Palm Pixi

Just moved from semi rural area to downtown metro area.  Although rural before I had no issues with dropping calls.  I am now in a mid-rise on the third floor and I drop calls constantly from any interior room with no windows. Funny thing is my bars are okay for signal. Getting tired of standing outside to make a call.  New phone is an investment I don't want to make right now but may have to.  Anyone have some suggestions?

I assume your building is made out of concrete and not steel/wood?  Concerete and RF signals are like water and oil, they do not play well together at all.  Heck, even some steel/wood structures don't do well with RF, especially if you're sandwiched in between floors.  I don't know that there's anything we can offer as far as help goes.  Your problem is all signal based due to the structure you live in.  Now that I think of it, Sprint has an in-home repeater you can buy.  I know you're not on Sprint, but maybe AT&T has the same thing.  It's essentially a little cell phone tower for your house.  Instead of connecting to another tower, this repeater connects to your Internet connection and transmits your voice calls/texts that way.

Re: AT&T and Palm Pixi

I had a similar dropping problem with several phones on my plan around the house.

ATT&T finally could find no answer (Even tried new phones) so they offered my a MIcroCell unit that is essentially hooked to the internet and rebroadcasts the cell signal at full strength. It works great and have had no dropped calls since. Its range is about 150 - 200 yards.
