Re: O2 Pre SOS Only problem - 1 sim 2 pre's.

My problem is slightly different than this. I've had my Palm Pre since Christmas with O2, and it's been great but not without it's problems. Main one now is that the SOS Only sign won't go away. No matter where I go in my house, it's only ever SOS Only, even though it used to work fine up until a few days ago. I can get on the internet, but I can't send or receive calls/texts. Is this a problem with O2, or my palm in the past few days?

Re: O2 Pre SOS Only problem - 1 sim 2 pre's.

Yeah... For me the SOS only problem happened immediately, and I couldnt figure out how to get around it. It seems now that there should be a way, by modifying a webOSDoctor image or something, but I long since got frustrated and returned the Pre and replaced it with an Adnroid phone. Its a shame, I would love to be able to use a Pre, but if I cant get it to work then there's no point in me having one. Sorry Palm, you've lost a customer here, and several others for the same reason by the sounds of it.

Re: O2 Pre SOS Only problem - 1 sim 2 pre's.

Hi,

An observation, not a solution.

I have a similar story, O2 pre from CEX, though 3g does appear to work briefly and intermittently when signal strength is strong and the phone can be used as normal. The signal strength is poor most of the time compared to other phones and soon I too get the sos only sign, requiring a change to g2, stopping data transfer or reboot. Interestingly the signal strength will be 1-2 bars when on 3g compared to 5 bars on 2g (or no data transfer). Could this be a factor? I have seen several reports on forums about the poor signal strength on the pre. I have no idea why on switching to 3g the signal strength should change as the data transfer mode should not be reflected by the signal strength as far as I am aware. If signal is 2-3 bars on no data transfer or 2g then I can forget 3g and just end up with sos only. I am on O2 simplicity.

Re: O2 Pre SOS Only problem - 1 sim 2 pre's.

The problem in my case was a faulty phone and once replaced I came back to India and had to use the metadoctor to activate a profile and now if I cange my sim card... SOS. I am at my wits end and have gone back to my Treo Pro and my Iphone 4.0

Such a lovely phone but in India..NO APPS.

I travelled to USA and got myself a Matrix card ATT. Put it in the phone and when I got up in the morning I saw 3G working and a phone bill of 2000 USD!!

Jusy waiting to eid myself of this phone!! It is not worth the bother unless you know Linux and can manipulate the lernel.

Re: O2 Pre SOS Only problem - 1 sim 2 pre's.

I have german unlocked palm pre not sure from which operator. The model is P101UEU (not listed in forum registration form) and activate on Telkomsel network in Indonesia.

The phone works great and normal except in bali airport area (about 5km sq2). The phone turn to be sos only when entering this area and back to normal when I leave this area.

I have check with network operator, but they said no problem about network. My SIM card is normal when used with other phone and my pre is normal when use other SIM from other network operator.

Has anyone has idea why my pre has a blank spot in certain area. I assume that my carrier network is not  palm pre compatible network, but I can't find where is the list.

Thanks n Regards

Re: O2 Pre SOS Only problem - 1 sim 2 pre's.

i am having exactly the same problem - one particular SIM is locked on Palm Pre 2...last 4 months was working fine...one day after battery recharge I got the message Check SIM-SOS only. Disaster. I contacted technisians on Palm live chat, but they only suggest to run webOS doctor, but from other posts I know it will not help. Surprisingly the same SIM works fine on other devices, and other SIM cards work OK on my palm. Can anyone from Palm finally provide a solution?

There appears to be a random number of faulty sims. Since I had my sim replaced, everything is working fine. I sense the palm peolpe are aware of this now and are replacing sims without much argument.

Unfortunately, neither Palm nor HP supply SIM cards.  They come from the cell provider!
