Greetings all, 

 I am from Egypt and I like the palm pre 2 very much, unfortunately, it's not on sale in the middle east.

I was thinking of buying it online unlocked and as I have a friend now in the US, I can ship it to his address and he'll get it for me. Is that possible ? Can I use my credit card info and different shipping address ?

Another thing please, as I will be using it in Egypt, will I be able to use the app catalog ? And the OTA services ?

I'll appreciate you help.Thanks in advance.

I don't know about how the shipping with an internationl credit card works, but make sure the phone is activated *in the US* with a US SIM card before sending it to you

If you live in an area where the Palm App catalog has not been launched, you will not have access to any apps. The phone will lock on to whatever app store that it geographically activates in. If you activate it in the US, you will from then on have access to US app store regardless of country you are in.

(youll also need access to a US credit card though)

but let me get this clear....u mean if i bought it from the US...i should insert a US sim card first, say for at&t....then, launch the phone, hence..the the app store will work if i bring it to egypt and the phone as well when i insert a local sim card from here ?

Exactly. Insert a US (say AT&T) SIM chip *in* the US (I suppose you'll need a friend to do that) and activate it there.

Once that phone is activated, regardless of what you do you will always have access to the US app store. (whether you erase your phone, put another internaltional SIM card in it etc.

You only get one chance to do it, and the phone permanently fixes on  what you activated it with. Found out the hard way I'm afraid.
