When you turn the mute button on (Pre Plus), you're supposed to see the "mute icon" flash on the screen and the phone is supposed to go into mute mode.  Mine used to work but now it's stopped working.

My "Ringer Switch Off" setting in the Sounds & Ringtones area is set to Vibrate.  Even if I switch it to Mute, it doesn't seem to take effect.  The phone still plays sounds at normal volume.

Is there something I can do to try fixing this?

I had a similar problem on my Sprint Palm Pre a while ago.  I wasn't able to fix it entirely, but I was able to make the problem stop for a while.  I did this by removing the battery whenever the Mute switch stopped working.  After doing the battery pull the switch would work again for a couple of weeks, then I'd have to do it again.
