My touchstone doesn't appear to be working.  It sometimes will work, and sometimes it will charge for a moment stop and then charge again.  I hear the BuBing again and again and again as this does this which drives me (and my wife) crazy!

  I have adjusted it's position on the touchstone without any success.  The same thing happens with the touchstone at the verizon store.  

The USB charger always works.

It seems to work after I plug the USB directly into the Pre and let it charge for a little while or after I reset the phone.   But, this doesn't always fix the problem.

I use the clear case that i bought at the verizon store.

The Verizon store wasn't very helpful ( and pretty rude).  She just resetted the phone and it worked for 5 minutes.  Then when I got to work, it started with the BaDing cycle.  I charged it for a bit with the USB, and now it worked again for about 5 minutes. 

I haven't found help on the Pre Central forums.

The touchstone is such a cool concept, and should be very convient, but if it only works 80% of the time, it is effectively useless!

Two notes: Have you tried charging it without the case.  Some cases are not compatible even when they indicate they are.  This will determine if the touchstone is at fault or if it is the case interfering with the signal.  If you are still having problems with the case off, then you have afaulty touchstone and you should return it for a new one.

Second, I also don't like the noise the pre makes even when I plug it into the USB or use the touchstone, so....

I downloaded the application called web os quickinstall which can be found at precentral.com.  You can find other links to it all over the net.  Just make sure you get the most recent version.  I think it is 3.1 or 3.2.  Within web os quick install you will find hundreds of "patches" and free apps that can be instantly loaded onto your phone.  Patches custom modify how the phone looks and operates. One of those patches allows you to turn off the tone that the Pre makes when is starts to charge whether you are using the USB or the touchstone.

My clear case I got from Verizon broke (again), so I decided to follow your advice.   It now works!   Why does verizon sell a case that doesn't work with the touchstone, and how come their staff doesn't know this!

Mine does exactly the same thing, and I don't use a case.  Also, I have two Touchstone docks and it does the same with both, therefore.... the problem's in the phone.  This just started about a week ago.  I tried swapping out the battery, and blowing the dust from the inside of the back cover (we live in the desert), but no success.  I'm not sure this is related to the case/screen cracking that is endemic to the Pre (and Palm/Verizon don't admit to recognizing), but it may be.  Crack showed up a couple weeks before the problem with the Touchstone did.  Oh yeah, the direct USB works just fine, so something's going on with the back of the phone.  Any ideas?

is your phone seating on the TS correctly?  for mine, i found if it's not on just right, it will be internittent.

the way i make sure it's seated just right is to slide the phone down from the top of the TS until the magnet stops where it wants it.

Hello:

      I have found that using a "Wet Ones" hand and Face wipe, on the back of my device and also wiping the Touchstone off... makes it 99.9% reliable again.

I had to replace my Pre Plus TS back cover.  Haven't had a problem since. It was apparently a problem with the back cover.

I have the first guys issue. is there a pad that's supposed to go with the charger? I only have the charger itself. the battery "noise" goes on and off and sometimes stays mostly doesn't. I can't use the usb, as there is something in my pre that won't allow it to work.  broken connection? so.. its a problem.  any help out there?
