Are these batteries replaceable?

Re: Unusual battery behavior.

Yes, unlike our citrus smartphone manufacturing friends, Palm has seen fit to acknowledge there are good and valid reasons to have user replaceable batteries.

The back covers of both the Pre and Pixi are easily removable giving access to the battery. Palm sells replacement batteries on their site. Additionally a number of manufacturers have batteries available for both Pre and Pixi (though I suspect Palm does not officially support the use of aftermarket batteries.)

Re: Unusual battery behavior.

It happened to me this morning. I charged my phone over night. Took it out this morning, went to my office, made one phone call from my car ( 15 minutes) this AM and by 9 AM, my phone was dead. Even If left any appl on, it should not drain the battery so quickly.

Re: Unusual battery behavior.

I have my third centro replacement and a similar problem. Everything works fine for a couple months and my battery last two days.  I have no internect connections and do not use them.  All of a sudden the phone is warmer than usual and my battery dies in 6 hours without even using the phone.  I can't find an answer from anyone so I am trying here.  The dealer just says replace it!!!!!!! I had my old treo for 5 years without any such issue.  Can't figure it out.

So far none of the support answers are accurate! It has nothing to do with apps running in the background! It is a flaw in the battery design and the lack of an Advanced Power Management System (APMS). Further more, the processor overheats causing the battery to drain even faster! Everyone should be aware of these issues since Windows 95, and the debate with the APMS when it was ruled necessary to have it. The current processor exceeds both it's operating temps, and proper voltage regulation. This shown through all the Palm products ( in reviewing the support forums). The problem at hand is that processor is over-worked through improper voltage, temperature, and program regulation. The lack of a proper cache creates lock-ups, a.k.a. a program crash or failure. Similar to automobiles, when the alternator fails, the battery and starter will equally fail because inherently the voltimeter is built into the alternator. In microelectronics, the voltimeter must be consistent or the cpu clock fails. In this case, the APMS sends a signal trouble code that shuts down power to the failing device in event of failure. Of course there's no visible POST process. I had the Palm Pixi 120eww crash a few times and reboot. The processor gets equally as hot as a single core PC processor. Of course by then the resistance has increased. All the issues that should not have taken place has. What do you expect to have happen when the power-source or processor fails!

Re: Unusual battery behavior.

I am on my second Pre since the summer through BELL here in Canada, got an awesome rate plan with this phone. But I am now realizing why.... My phone too gets "HOTTER than normal" when using the phone for a call or using the internet browser, the battery depletes rapidly...now the speaker (volume) is real quiet and crappy sounding....not sure what route to go, but just might drive over the Pre with my truck and reactivate my Blackberry Pearl for another 2-1/2 years...!!!  Frustrated in Ontario,......
