As painfully pointed out on the Dutch Palm community, currently the captive portal functionality of the Palm Pre 3 is not functioning when trying to connect to the NS Wifi network as available in many trains.Instead of showing the portal page, it shows a javascript disabled error message.
Steps to reproduce:
- Board an NS Intercity train with Wifi available (identified by a rotated RSS sign on the door, commonly used as signal strength indicator for WiFi networks on both WebOS, Gnome Shell and if I recall correctly Mac OS X)
- Enable Wifi on the Pre 3 and connect to the "tmobile" network
- A "captive portal" notification pops up, tap it
Expected result:
Expected was the captive portal page of this network, where users are able to accept the terms and "connect"
Actual result:
What happens is that a card pops up with a message similar to "Javascript is disabled on this window", blinking (probably reloading the same page) twice a second over and over again. This prevents the user to actually accept the terms and start using the WiFi network.
Software used:
Palm/HP WebOS 2.2 R3171
Post relates to: HP Pre 3 (Unlocked EU)

The file found here is the communication between this captive portal and Mozilla Firefox as confirmed working, taken using Wireshark. Probably the Pre browser interprets the javascript code incorrectly.

Unfortunately this problem has not been fixed with WebOS 2.2.4.
